    Black Friday deals

    I am not a fan of Black Friday shopping. At all. But I see that at Target they have a 50 inch Element LED TV for $229.

    Couple of questions for anyone in the know: how good or crappy are Element tvs? Is it gonna **** out on me in a year? Part of me thinks I should try and get it anyway because it's so cheap and if I need a new one in a year so be it. Also, how many of these are there going to be at each store? Like two? If that's the case, I am probably not going to try and get one because they'll be gone in the first five minutes.

    Any other eye opening deals you know of?

    Check out websites like bfads.net You can search for items across stores. If you register for their emails you are also alerted to ongoing sales. Like right now Kohls is offering their Black Friday prices online already, Best Buy is also having early sales.

    I have actually heard the best time to buy a new TV is in January for a couple of reasons. 1) the new TVs will have been announced for the year at the Consumer Electronics Show so they will want to get the current stock out of the stores ASAP and 2) it's Super Bowl time.

    I am back and forth on this. I actually move this weekend into a new place and would be nice just to have the new TV ready to go.

    One key to remember that my wife took advantage of a few times...Walmart price matches on Black Friday deals as well. If you find a deal at another store, try to see if Walmart carries it so you can avoid standing in line.

    I think Walmart is doing a 32 in TV for 98 dollars. Sounds perfect. I don't need a tv in my bedroom right now , but down the road it seems like it would be pretty good.

    They are starting to make tv models just for black friday, and they aren't great quality compared to other models by the same brand. Double check the specs before you buy. Especially screen thickness.

    that's what i am afraid of. is it all brands like Samsung and Sony and Sharp that are typically really good doing this too or crap brands?

    I'd get this one instead. Yes it's $170 more but its a Sharp with 120 Hz and 1080P and will probably last longer. Plus you don't have to wake up early and risk not getting one because its online now. Use code SHARP50DEAL at checkout to get the total to $400.
