6000 ft runway vs 13000 foot at the base. Oops! But I'm guessing It should be able to take back off though. Granted it is a little bigger, it's empty and they run 747s into St. Maarten with a 7000 ft runway every day. Check it out.
This really could have ended pretty badly. It happens once in awhile but really shouldn't with all the levels of protocols that a 747/heavy and tracon controller have. Not good for the pilots or the controllers, outch!
