    Re: Cyclone Alley

I thought he was an idiot to mention it in the press conference since he got one point in the second half and it clearly bothered him. Michigan opponents should give him more of the same. Some players respond to that by shutting the crowd up with their play.

The apology could have been awesome if they got some kid out of CA and did a forced video apology like the Texas player that tried to take Broomy's knee out.

That would have been hilarious. Have some reluctant looking student reading a s.cript on camera, saying he won't do it again, and he is truly sorry for offending Mitch McGary. At the end he asks if he is free to go now.

However, I think the student section should have been more creative, and had some variety in the cheers targeting McGary.

Props to CA. Just a shame it was necessary. Hopefully our students get less reactionary as the season goes on and realize that not every rough play = an opposing player deliberating attempting to cause injury to ours.

The Kool-Aid drinking here is actually frightening. It's like everyone here grew up in Michele Bachmann's hometown.

Next time find a more creative chant to mess with a player than "f*ck McGary."

F somebody chants are weak. Sounds like something no education trailer trash folks would chant. I was embarrassed for our perception on ESPN when I heard it. I guarantee 90% of those over 25 were too.

I'm surprised Mcgary admitted that they got to him. Props to CA for messing with his fragile mind. Sure the chant was classless but the last thing I want to see is a classy student section.

Everyone thought were chanting overrated, which if you watch the replay we clearly weren't. But at the time it sounded like overrated. Dickie V heard overrated as well.

    Re: Cyclone Alley

Back in the day I remember going to the Iowa v ISU game where the student section chanted A-C -clap-clap- UGLY. Now that was clever, and effective all in one. F-mcgary chant while effective is just not very clever. Granted I don't think AC Earl angered the student section the same as mcgary did.

Next up, Cyclone Alley issues "long overdue" apology to former Iowa guard Pierre Pierce.

Ohhhhhhh burrrrrn. There's the politics after only 4 pages. Now apparently being classless is another thing Republicans can add to their list of characteristics. I like what you did there jb... now, whenever I hear the f bomb I am going to think "Man, I should have voted for Obama."

That's what I heard on tv....and, of course, I thought..."HOLY COW....we take like a 2 point lead and we are chanting that?"

I agree..."eff" chants are not cool....and I don't think I'm an old "fuddy duddy." Sends a classless message to the nation on tv, to the opposing fans, to kids in attendance, etc.

Yeah, like the Michigan State and Ohio State fans are going to limit themselves to the polite unison hand clap thing. His comments in the post-game interview were a big invitation for opposing fans to target him. He wasn't on people's radar as much last year, but he won't be able to hide this year, especially after admitting that fans got into his head.

    Re: Cyclone Alley

I did not hear a single Overrated chant last night. If you watch the replay just look at the students mouths when they are chanting "overrated" You can plainly see that it is F McGary. I think ESPN worked some magic and told Dickie V to comment on "overrated".
It really was classless and juvenile. It really speaks volumes when ESPN has to doctor their broadcast. Terrible display by the students.
