    Friday OT - Bad Decisions

The punching thread made me wonder - what are some bad decisions you made, and you knew it pretty immediately? I would think most things where you end up being punched would qualify.

Re: Friday OT - Bad Decisions

Came home from a party the summer before my senior year of high school and tried to be quiet so my parents didn't know I had been drinking. My dad woke me up at 6 A.M. and told me I was going to go to work with him on easily the hottest day of the summer. I made it until about 9 A.M. on a roof before I puked over the side of the house. My dad told me to go get a drink of water and "wash your face." I thought that was a weird thing to say. I went to go sit in the truck and when I looked in the rear view mirror, I saw my entire face was covered with Sharpie that my friends had drawn on me at some point the night before. Everything from male anatomy to a uni-brow was drawn on my face. I didn't get to go anywhere the rest of that summer.

Re: Friday OT - Bad Decisions

A series of bad decisions made on a weekend night home from college:

    1. Decided that I needed to collect road signs for my dorm room (not stop signs or anything that would cause anyone to be in danger)

    2. Decided to put aforementioned signs in my back seat

    3. Drove around until 3 am in the morning until we got stopped by the sheriff (after executing what seemed like a quarter mile-early turn signal when followed).

Interesting. I know a couple like that too. Implants last year and they are halfway through their divorce now.

Re: Friday OT - Bad Decisions

Building a house in late 2007/early 2008...right before the housing bubble burst. Had I waited just 6-9 months, I could have saved 25% easily on what I paid. But, we're happy with it and it's in a great neighborhood, so that helps even it out...some.

edit - so probably more of bad timing than a bad overall decision (which is was not)

Re: Friday OT - Bad Decisions

I work an overnight shift where I get to listen to pretty much any music I want.

This morning, in a fit of needing some entertainment, I decided to do Overnight Shift on Nightmare Difficulty.

I downloaded VH1's 100 Best Songs of the 90's. I pressed play. I did not allow myself to skip.

The playlist started with Cher singing Believe, followed up with Celine Dion with My Heart Will Go On, went immediately after that into Sarah McLaughlin's Building a Mystery, and then Nelson Love and Affection.

It was a very very bad decision.

And my bad decision for today is reading this post, because now "Love and Affection" is stuck in my head.

People who grew up in other parts of Iowa have no clue how relentless the kNu media machine is. Every station that isn't modern music has game day regardless of whether they carry the game or not. All of the TV stations have Saturday gameday and Sunday Husker shows.

Heck they have multiple Husker legend radio shows where all it is is a bunch of old Husker players telling stories and people go nuts for this crap.

It is a true cult following. I always laugh when people from Nebraska can't figure out why outsiders get creeped out by the obsession.
