Re: MVP of the season thus far?

When you look at Stats. Ejim, When you watch just the last 5 minutes of the game Niang, If you watch what the team runs through and the guy who steps up when nothing is going Kane, If you looking for all out effort Glue Guy! Hogue.

Re: MVP of the season thus far?

This is a tough one. The way I approach this sort of question is by asking which one, if we lost to injury, would be the most crippling blow to the team's success? And right now I can't make a stronger argument for one over another.

Clutch (Niang) is the MVP. But this team has no stars. 4 headed monster, so far.

Re: MVP of the season thus far?

    Ejim.

That doesnít diminish the contributions of Kane, Hogue or Niang. Itís close to a four-way tie for co-MVP to this point. Kane would be close runner-up. Hogue's impact should not be undervalued. Niang's late-game takeover has pushed ISU over the top at least twice.

    But back to Melvin.

Ejim stats (team rank in parentheses):
    Scoring average: 18.0 (1st)
    Rebound average: 8.8 (2nd)
    FG%: 51 (3rd)
    3pt%: 37 (2nd!)
    FT%: 1st

Plus, if Ejimís injury had truly kept him out 4-6 weeks, Iím not sure ISU beats U-M or BYU (or goes 1-1 at best).

Re: MVP of the season thus far?

Not being able to decide who to vote for among four guys is a great problem to have. I think Ejim is our best player but Kane is most valuable because we are weakest at his position. We would be in a lot more trouble if we didn't have Kane at the point but I suppose you could also make the argument that we would be in a lot of trouble if we lost any of those four guys.

Re: MVP of the season thus far?

I went with Hogue. I don't think there really is one guy that is a traditional MVP. I think if you take any of those four away we lose a ton. I picked Hogue because he is the one that really puts us over the top.
