Re: 3 Thoughts on Thursday: What McKay's commitment means

With as much as I still expect from this year's basketball team (I just think Ejim is going to go out with a bang when he gets back in the lineup), it's hard not to look forward to next year. It's been a long time since I've thought about watching great underclassmen starting for us year after year. I think we're only a year or two from saying that our bench could finish in the top half of the league. Loving some Koolaid.

I was never sold as TCU being a frontrunner in football this year for some reason, but I thought they would be better that this. I have no sympathy for their injuries though and want to see a W this weekend.

I know some fellow Fanatics may want us to fall flat the rest of the year to "justify" getting rid of Mess (which should already be justified), but I still want to win. I suffered enough 1, 2 and zero win seasons under Walden. Those just flat-out sucked. Plus, I don't want a bunch of returning players coming back next year riding a huge losing streak, pressing to get off the schnide. Winning builds a culture, but so does losing. We will be better next year (no link to back up my confidence). I'd like to start sooner than later.

Looking like the TCU offense is causing an interactive downfall of the TCU defense.

If CPR doesn't have the onions to kick Messmyselfham in the onions and off the team, football will suck for many years. We will once again be a BB school.

When haven't we been more of a BB school? We sucked under Chewy but the football then was no better.

Why do people have to make EVERYTHING negative? It's a positive article about the bright future of Iowa State's basketball program but yet, we have to drag football's crappy season into it? I just don't understand this.

    Rant over. Happy Friday.

Why drag football in? Because we cannot even be mediocre. For every bball and vball victory, we then watch an embarrassing football display of debaucary each week. It is like a family. All the family members are fine upstanding citizens, but it has one bad apple. That entity was misbehaving some last year before, but now it has turned both defensive and offensive and needs to get religion.

I have been negative nancy just like half the board, but the basketball program is not something to panic about. This team will be good this year, and could be great next year. The Cook find is something though. I swear this board spent alot of time talking about his committment, especially since the program was in such dire straights at that point. Cook was the savior that Hoiberg actually became.

If ever a post was worth cash, this would be the one.

Enjoy basketball, people. Let it be the fun season that it is. Separate the two sports and drive on.

Since we are an elite team now, let's go get that One Cyclone Moment.
Make this one for the ages!

Re: 3 Thoughts on Thursday: What McKay's commitment means

While we are on happy positive notes, I just went to Costco and came upon a 31 inch Spiderman action figure for $25. It immediately stopped me in my tracks and made me say "Wow, That is ridiculous!!!............ly Awesome!!!! I then proceeded to grab one and head immediately to the register to buy it. It truly made my day. All said and done, I bought it for my nephew, but its no secret that everything I buy for my nephew I buy because I think it is awesome and secretly want one myself. I then arrived at home to show my wife my wonderful purchase, which she then proceeded to not match my enthusiasm.... I didn't care. She then asked what it even does. What it does? Its a 31 inch action figure for $25, what do you expect it to do?

Good story that made my day and all said and done, I don't care if anyone else thinks its a good story. It is also worth noting that there was an equivalent Darth Vader one too. It was pretty awesome as well.
