    Crowd

For the first time this year, i thought the atmosphere was good. There were a couple times when the entire crowd was on their feet and i could barely hear myself yell. I know it was the Iowa game, but i hope we can keep the momentum rolling through the conference season!

p.s. and yes, winning does help.

    Hilton fans

I found it interesting this week the both Lisa Bluder and Todd Lickliter were making statements along the lines of how they would like the same support that ISU gives their basketball games.

Bluder went off on a tangent of when there are only a few hundred people in the stands they are at a major disadvantage to ISU, who average thousands of fans.

Todd Lickliter was pleading with the Iowa fans to come out and support his team like we were supported today in his post-game interview on Learfield.

"If it was easy, someone else would have done it already." ISU Director of Athletics Jamie Pollard

It was like that at every game in 2000.

    Re: Hilton fans

Greg said he was touched that our fans showed up the way they did after Wednesday night. Our support means the world to these guys - no matter how good or bad things get.

I truly hope we stand behind this team all the way through. Because I would venture to guess we may have another Drake-like night or two in our future this season.

And I don't want our arena looking like CHA has recently.

Did anyone else kinda notice that the Cyclone Alley movements during Iowa's free throws were working?

    Re: Crowd

are they doing the uniform movements again...when the whole section moves in the same direction at the same time? this seems to maybe actually work, and looks cool either way.

    Re: Crowd

our crowd was ok i thought...granted we did just come off a pounding by drake but i thought our crowd was really weak most of the game. it seams the only people that get into the cheers are the students which is nice that we can do that but it used to be everybody would go nuts during the games...im hoping that the hilton magic of old comes back but right now we are pretty weak. i know winning will help, but it really seemed like we could have been a ton louder with as many fans that showed up to the game today

    Re: Crowd

You guys are killing me with this crowd thing. We had over 14,000. Sometimes they were loud, and sometimes they weren't. But, come on . That's the way it was in the 90's. Not every game is the floor going to shake beneath Hoiberg's feet.

(Yes, I was at that game. It was loud, but I think the students stomping on the bleachers probably had something to do with it too.)

In any case, for some of you it is never going to be like the old days, and for some others you will always complain about the students being the only people cheering at time. You are both right! It may not ever be like you remember it, and the students will always cheer more than the other fans.

Let's give the people who showed up some credit that they were loud, supportive, and created a fun place for a team to play basketball.

    End rant, sorry.

I prefer to remember that year as one of the greatest in Cyclone basketball history! But if you must focus on the losing side, remember this:

44-48 @Drake first game on the road(second game of the season) with a new juco point guard leading the team.

60-75 Cincinnati 5th game of the year, championship game of a Hawaii tournament against the #1 ranked team in the country.

75-80 (2OT) @Oklahoma(ranked 17th) on the road with 2 chances to win at the end of regulation and the 1st overtime

90-102 (OT) @Colorado 26th game of the year, Colorado couldn't miss if I remember right(I could be remembering any of numerous other games at Colorado) and we were 3 days removed from an incredible game against #24 Kansas @Kansas, winning at Kansas for the first time in 18 years(in a close game, too)

64-75 to MSU ranked #2, eventual champ(in games not nearly as close or exciting as the one against us) on a non-neutral neutral court, leading most of the game until the infamous last five minutes.

Admitedly, I did not get to watch, nor have I ever watched, what transpired that day as I was visiting a friend who has no interest in sports so perhaps the pain of that game is less for me,

but---that is the shortest list of losses in one year that we will see in a long time for a Cyclones men's basketball team.

Drink some kool-aid, my friend, and enjoy.

I totally agree. There were some posts after the Drake game predicting that Hilton would be significantly less than full. Just ridiculous.
