    Jordan Dykstra

Just a little update that so far this year Dykstra's stat line is.. Also I will put the stat line of his other teammate Heemstra who is also 6'8' and only a sophomore as well. So far its only through 5 games so take it for what its worth!

PPG FG% Reb Blocks Steal Assist
    Dykstra 16.6 74% 9.8 1.2 1.6 4.0
    Heemstra 12.6 56% 9.0 2.0 2.0 5.8

Anyone think there is any chance at all that we will also offer his teammate? I know he is probably going to get offers to play basketball somewhere but maybe if we don't offer McD can try and convince him to walk on... who knows! There team is currently ranked number 1 although it is 1A so you need to take that in account when looking at there lines! There can't be too many players there size they are competing with!

The stat line didn't come out as well as it did when I posted this originally, and I'm not quite sure how to fix it! So hopefully its still readable!!

Those assist numbers are what really jump out at me. I would offer his teammate too.

    Re: Jordan Dykstra

Just remember that 10th grade BBall is much different than the Big XII so assists and points don't necessarily mean too much. Without seeing a player in action, it's hard to tell from stats just what kind of potential the player has. I think he's going to be a good ball player but I'd hold off on thinking his teammate is Nash just because of his 10th grade stats Of course I know nobody was doing that, but I thought it was important to remember these stats are always going to be far different than those other intangibles.

A program isn't built on one player and it doesn't succeed because of one player, thus a program won't fail if it doesn't get that one player.

Let's "cool our jets" a little bit...the level of competition (and size) these kids are playing against is not quite what they will see in the Big 12.

I cheer for two teams, Iowa State and whoever is playing the hawkeyes.

We need to jump all over this kid, and then look at the coach. McD could use a good assistant.

Hmmm.. I'm starting to wonder if a few of the people didn't even read the initial post. Cool our Jets? I said right in the post that it is against 1A opponents and there probably isn't anyone near their size that they are competing against... Those are their stat lines for the varsity games. Also I didn't post this claiming that these two are going to be the next post force in the big 12, I just figured some people might find it interesting to see how one of our commitments is doing and maybe also another future prospect.

    Re: Jordan Dykstra

I have seen him play. He is good and has been playing varsity ball as a freshman and now as a sophomore. The level of competitionis not big XII but no high school ball is. I will tell you this. Where he plays, Sioux County is some of the best basketball in the state of Iowa, bar none.

    The past five years
    2003 Sioux Center 2A Champs
    2003 Boyden Hull 1A champs
2004 Sioux Center 2A Consolation Champs
    2005 MOC-FV 3A champs
    2005 Unity Christian 2A champs
    2006 MOC-FV 3A Runner up
    2007 Western Christian 2A champs

This kid will play against some of the best this year in his own county in addition to facing Bishop Heelan in non conference play

Not to downplay small schools, but do you really think a 1A school has guys with D-I scholly offers playing on the Sophomore team?

    Re: Jordan Dykstra

I would say that there is not a whole lot of division one competition in the state of Iowa in 1A basketball, however there are good teams from time to time. The thing with these small schools kids is that if they are good enough they play aau and during the summer months that is where they get noticed.. iam sure Dykstra was really noticed by D1 coaches playing aau....

    Re: Jordan Dykstra

I don't know what their plans are w.r.t. Heemstra, but I would be extremely surprised if we end up offering him. It's almost impossible to tell anything from the stat line. As clone205 said, you have to see these guys play against better competition to see what they're really made of.

Give me a break. Good teams yes. D1 quality NO. I came from NW Iowa and seen alot of these teams play, good teams but not great. Heck my little bro played in a conference that in one period 3 out of 4 state champs came from. Guess what... Only 1 player went to play D-1 ball and that was at Drake then out to South Carolina

We offered Hamilton this summer before he played a single varsity game.

I did read your post...and I was tempted to correct your misuse of "there" but chose not to. My post was really in response to some of the subsequent posts that basically said "let's offer the other guy as well" from looking at a stat line.

I played at a larger HS in NW Iowa and averaged 10 and 5 (as a 6-0 guard)...maybe I should have been offered too!

Frankly, I think these guys stats are not as impressive as I would hope they would be...I doubt they face many teams with one guy anywhere near 6-8 and they have two on their team...these guys should have incredible stats with the type of mismatch problems they probably create nearly every game.

I cheer for two teams, Iowa State and whoever is playing the hawkeyes.
