Re: Big 12 Preview - ISU!!

Fennelly on Jadda Buckley: “If she’s not starting or playing 30 minutes a game I’ll be shocked,” Fennelly said of Buckley. “She comes in Big-12 ready (defensively). A lot of kids don’t. She came here to play. And she’s going to play … a lot.”

I predicted last spring she would be an instant starter; not only that, it's apparent from watching a scrimmage last week that she is the team leader already...

That is good - I really think that we have been missing a "true" leader since Lacy graduated. They tried to force Bolte to be a leader and it just wasn't natural to her and it seemed forced.

I can't wait to see her and Moody playing together. I can't but help think Jadda is going to enable Nikki's game a lot. Nikki can be just some dang quick and slippery, that we could see a lot of back doors coming.

All that time with Mrs. Fennelly is going to pay off for Buckley.

Who will the starting five be? Buckley, Moody, Hallie and?

I would assume Brynn will be starting as well. The other position is likely be between Kidd, Seanna, and Ellis. I have to think that experience wins out here and it is Kidd, but BF may run Ellis as the 4.

Again, depth will likely be a challenge this year, especially in the post. Hallie has to stay out of foul trouble.

Seanna, Brynn, and Kidd will all play heavy minutes, regardless of which two will start. I suspect Ellis might be the backup 5, at least until Jensen gets up to speed.

Re: Big 12 Preview - ISU!!

Initial starters are not a big deal as BF will be trying combinations in the exhibitions and the first few regular games. I'd guess Kidd will start to begin with, unless Seanna has already shown she belongs there.

Re: Big 12 Preview - ISU!!

Chris posted today that it looks like Seanna. Keep in mind two factors. 1) Bill offers a very shore leash when it comes to mistakes and 2) with this depth and the style of play we will incorporate regular line changes in the guard court will occur.

Re: Big 12 Preview - ISU!!

I am assuming that since no one has mentioned either Maddie or Jensen that they have not played well enough in the time that you watched. I was hoping that they could give the team 10-12 minutes in the post so that Hallie would have time on the bench. Ellis, to me, just isn't a realistic backup for the 5 position in the Big 12. She is giving away 9 inches in size to the Baylor freshman center and on a nightly basis at least 6. Once Seanna signed with us I thought that both she and Jadda would move right into the starting lineup. This going to be a fun team to watch.

Yeah, what is the story with Maddie? Is she ready this year?

Unless something has changed, Jensen hasn't been cleared for full drills yet. That's the big issue with her. I'm very optimistic in her basketball abilities, but we can't expect to get much from her during the first portion of the season.

Last Friday, Bill tweeted (during #AskCoachFen) "Jordan is working hard-- she is not close to being able to help us yet-Denise and Coach Link will get her ready-I think she can help"

With the guard depth, I think that Brynn could slide into the 5 position if needed. She and Fallon are both listed as 5-11, but Brynn has a little more length than Fallon. Plus she has already shown excellent defensive fundamentals, which could be a big factor in post defense. Fallon on the other hand may be physically stronger and holder her ground in there better. Sure would like to see Maddie capable of going in if a few more inches are needed, until Jordan is ready. It likely depends on the the matchup and what's needed down low if Hallie is on the bench.
