Re: AVCA Division I Coaches Top 25 (10/28)

It's interesting to note that Missouri, which is now 25-0, has only dropped 7 sets - all season. I caught them on tv last week against Tennessee (I think) and they looked quite impressive. Glad they aren't in our conference any more. It would not surprise me to see Iowa State sent to Columbia for the NCAA tournament. Our RPI is 29 right now. We'll have an awful lot of work to do in order to host again. The Big 12 has four teams that are good and five teams that are... not. I don't know that our schedule allows to move up as much as we may need, in order to avoid traveling for 1st and 2nd round games.

I agree that our RPI has a long road ahead of it to get say in the top 16, especially when looking at our schedule. However, it was nice to see a one week jump from 40 last week to 29 this week. That win at Kansas sure helped out a bunch as they've got a very high RPI.

That's great! I hadn't seen what our RPI was before this week. Just keep winning...

Coach said it would probably take a win over Texas to get the RPI/clout to get to host.

Very true statement. It also helps that they are the #1 RPI team in the country right now.

MU beat Florida and Kentucky at home. Otherthan that, i didn't see much on their schedule that has stood out. If they beat those two ranked teams on the road, then I'll be impressed. Not saying they are a bad team, as they can't be to be undefeated this late, but their schedule has not been all that tough.

Is their schedule loaded with the best teams in volleyball? No. Have they played a pretty decent schedule, based upon RPI? I'd say so. In non-conference games, Mizzou has played seven teams with an RPI of 100 or better. Six of their SEC opponents have an RPI in the top 60, including Florida at #3, which Missouri beat 3-1. The lowest RPI team they've played is Towson State at 233. It's not like they've loaded up with the biggest cupcakes and walked all over them. They've had decent teams for competition and smoked them all. Losing only 7 sets ALL SEASON after 25 matches is pretty damned good, no matter who your competition is.

I don't question they are a talented team, being in the Kansas City area, I've watched players like Henning since their HS days. Their setter was also one of the best in her class coming out of HS. Still, I don't think they'd be undefeated playing our schedule. If they beat Florida and Kentucky on the road, then I'll call them a team to be reckoned with for the Final Four, and that maybe CJL could take a cue from their scheduling.
