What a win-win that would be for him: moving to a monster athletic department like Texas has, and getting the hell away from West Virginia. I mean that in a "they've really struggled in the Big 12" kind of way, not the "WV sucks" kind of way.

There goes the WV Dude Blog down the toilet. Or maybe it becomes more encompassing.

Why would he leave the Colts for that job?

I'd agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong.

having luck at texas is also good for the big12. it ensures a solid program down there which is like the old saw, what's good for gm is good for america, if you get the point. also, luck has loyalty to this league.

If that last part is true he won't last long there...his loyalty better be Texas first and nothing else comes close! What is good for Texas is the only thing that matters down there...and that maybe the Big 12...but if it isn't then Texas moves on with or without Luck.

I didn't even put 2 and 2 together that Oli/Andy are father/son... Both pro QBs, which shows just how much I heart the NFL...

Re: Oliver Luck likely to be next Texas AD

And haven't both the Dude and MIA-MHver3 being saying Luck to TX was a done deal for a couple weeks now? Is Chip getting slow???

Luck got his law degree from TX, played for Houston. Previous rumors were that TX wanted Bowlsby, he turned them down. The president is also on shaky ground w/ the regents. Nobody at TX is happy that A&M made a successful splash in the SEC. WVU will go after Babcock (Cincy) and/or Mullins (Oregon), both natives of WV. And thus ends my summary from the WV twitterers. There was a lot more that they said, like that Luck laid out his plan for TX in his interview, including how and why the Big 12 should go back to 12. Or that TX had a super-secret non-disclosure w/ the B1G (or not, the WV guys argued about that one openly.) Sadly we're now down to just the Dude, MHver3 has deleted his Twitter again. Really drove a lot of traffic to some site last week (enough that it was struggling to keep up) before he hit the eject-wings-button. "You pressed the wings-eject-button, you idiot!"

Re: Oliver Luck likely to be next Texas AD

Well, 'Bama just has to stay close in salary, they don't have to match UT dollar for dollar, plus they'll surely offer other "bennies" to keep him at Tuscaloosa. Meaning trying to get Saban to UT probably will get seriously expensive. The admin. may want him bad, probably not that bad. That's why I feel a move for Briles makes so much sense. A great recruiter and coach, plus he won't be nearly as expensive.
