I'd be frustrated, too. Our system grinds up QBs ... for all we know JB was just as talented as anyone else. He just had the (mis)fortune of getting more playing time and "coaching."

But in all seriousness it has to do with the Oline and play calling.

“They're very, very hard to guard,” Notre Dame head coach Mike Brey said. “They're really good. And with Niang in the middle kind of wheeling and all those guys spreading you out, they're kind of a nightmare matchup. And they're men. They're really men.”

Yeah, no.... You can't coach arm strength and accuracy.

Well, that would explain why he won't be standing on the sidelines then. I can see why he would be bitter but somethings are better off not being said/tweeted to the public.

    You can't coach accuracy? Huh.

Apparently you also cannot coach selling a fake handoff, which Barnett could do and our current QBs cannot. Does this mean you also cannot coach reading a defense (which JB did better than SR and certainly GR). I'm guessing then that you also cannot coach poise, which both JB and SR had (and both lost).

So Mess is right, he isn't responsible for anything.

Accuracy plays into arm strength so yes. And how can you even say JB does better reading a defense compared to SR and GR? That's laughable. You mean the same JB that had a terrible completion percentage. Turned the ball over just about the same amount that he put it in the end zone? Such revisionist history you have in regards to JB. Keep on keeping on, brother.

I don't understand the myth that SR is better than Barnett and Jantz.

He was against Kansas last year!

But yeah, outside of that game it's been a lot more of the inconsistent garbage we're used to from the quarterback position.

God people take everything so personal on this board. The QB job was his to lose, and he lost it. Yes he is a great kid, classs act, yadda-yadda.

He is the QB we deserve, but not the one we need right now.

Turnover wise he is better, makes less arrant throws, pretty sure he has a better completion percentage. You really think SR wouldn't be playing better if we still had KO, Hicks, on the line? I certainly think so.

Sidenote, but isn't that funny that was less than a year ago? We beat them by 2 TDs and ran/threw all over them. Their team isn't that much different.

Re: Former Cyclone QB returning to Ames on Saturday - Jared Barnett

I've seen with my own eyes inaccurate QBs coached to be more accurate. I've also seen Barnett consistently make better decisions in the zone read run game than SR. So you keep on keeping too, bro.

Lost in all this, however, is a larger point that I don't think we can even begin to judge QBs accurately given the failure of our system and coaching. I don't really have a preference for any of our QBs--they're all victims.

Not that I have any skill (I don't, plus I'm old), but I would not want to be a QB in the current regime at ISU.
