Holy ****. He hasn't bested Mac in ANY measurable categories of importance. You have to go creating spreadsheets of **** nobody gives a **** about to even say he's equal.

So, are these the new two themes that have to keep coming up?
    1. We love Mac. CPR is somehow no Mac, so he has to go, because Mac had to go.
    2. The Liberty Bowl was bad, and we should never forget that it was bad.

Is that pretty much the loop that we're cycling through right now?

Since we are an elite team now, let's go get that One Cyclone Moment.
Make this one for the ages!

I think you have to put a 'year five' in all caps in there somewhere...maybe a 2a or something.

Don't forget "if Rhoads can't win here, nobody will." I would pick over half the Big 12 coaches over Rhoads.

Look, Dan, why are you so ******? You landed on your feet. And you even got another head coaching gig. It wasn't going well and a change was needed. You did some great things at ISU - 9 wins, bowl win, breaking Iowa streak. And cyclone nation appreciates it. But its time to give it a rest and move on, Dan.

    Just curious as to who.

I would take Gary Patterson. I think his style would translate well anywhere. Maybe Gundy. But that is it for me. Mack and Big Game Bob have significantly fallen off and they have the most talent in the league every year. Weis sucks. I love Briles but has he ever coached outside Texas? Kingsbury is a possible but only first year. Can he keep it going? Holgo at WVU is a disaster thus far. Snyder about 15 years ago would be a no brainer. But now? How many years does he have left? And they are getting worse HS recruits than us. His classes are filled with juco talent because no high level HS talent thinks he will be there long term.

    Which ones would you take?

Except for winning percentage, road winning percentage, and winning percentage against ranked opponents.

Iowa State beat Tulsa who beat Colorado State who beat Wyoming who only lost to Nebraska by 3 AND we beat Tulsa by more than 3 so if we take strength of schedule by 3.1202 I have come to the conclusion Paul Rhoads would have been 5-2 with Dan McCarney's schedule which means Paul Rhoads > Dan McCarney. If it weren't for the injuries on that all-star offensive line that tore up UNI, we would probably be undefeated. If Rhoads can't get it done here nobody ever can. No coaches want to go to Iowa State--Jim Harbaugh and Brian Kelly < Paul Rhoads. Because Duncan, Criner, and Walden couldn't win at ISU and they epitomize coaching intelligence, no one can win at ISU. Ames is just harder to recruit than Cedar Falls.

What is your definition of "measurable categories of importance" then? I'd like to hear them. In what categories has Mac exceeded CPR through the first four years of each tenure?

EDIT** what spreadsheet did I create? I'm not following that comment.

The problem is, you may pick them, but none of them would pick us. We would have to be realistic and try to find someone who would love to be at Iowa State the way that Paul does and the way that Mac did. That to me would be a very, very hard find.

I don't understand where this fallacy is coming from...

Jim Harbaugh and Brian Kelly wanted to coach here.

Perhaps Rhoads and Mac love ISU because they can have losing records, be paid seven figures, and still be glorified. Love doesn't win football games.

I don't get it. Paul Rhoads has never been a head coach anywhere before Iowa State and yet so many people on here are certain that if he can't get it done here nobody can. Maybe Rhoads isn't really an outstanding coach? Maybe he really is average?

So this is what it was going to take for the Mac lovers to come out of the woodwork. I had always wondered......

    I'm on Twitter too: Tre4ISU

    Or so I have read.
