Re: TRANSCRIPT: Fred Hoiberg's presser at the Big 12's media day

the news I took out of this presser, was Fred adjusting to the rule changes, by having team drive to hoop more. I worried about our shooting this year from outside and how it could affect the spacing on the floor. Maybe don't have as many options from outside as last year(which was great). if guys are sagging off Kane, can he drive it to the hoop? Now Niang could draw more fouls. I am interested to see if Ejim can really put it on the floor this year, he has basically always been a one or two dribble guy. I saw Morris a couple of times in high school and he can drive to hoop

Hoiberg has a strategy for everything. He says enough to answer the questions and keep everyone intrigued but doesn't say too much as to give away his plan.

I don't mind the new rules, I like more offense. I just hope games don't take 2.5 hours to finish with all the fouls that are bound to be called.

Not really a new rule; just enforcing what they have not been with the hand-checking being called a foul. They did this in the NBA and it opened up the court, increased scoring, and made the games a lot more entertaining.

They need to do this in the women's college game also.

We have the perfect squad for these new rules. What big can step out and guard ejim and Niang without fouling?

I bet teams with HC like Larry Eustachy who are defense minded and would rather have a 50-45 game than 80-75 total are going to hate this rule and struggle.

No mention of Percy Gibson... I had high hopes for him after his freshman season.

I think most people's hopes of him diminished after we saw him last year. If he ever learns how to pass the ball he could be of some value to the team.

McCafferey has liked to get up and down and push tempo everywhere he's been. So no.

Basically it's to not physically impede an offensive guy's motion towards the basket. They also changed the charge rule, that a help defender has to be set when an offensive player starts his upward motion towards the basket. that can be dubbed the Iowa State rule, after our screw job against kansas and ohio state last year

The main thing is in the last five seconds the hand check defensive teams may be giving up three foul shots. For those people who said Bubu would not add much to this team, under the new rules, his driving ability would come in real handy. Seems like a DG would have a hay day.

he's had a concussion, so it has limited his practice time somewhat
