Baylor is just plain bad on defense

My goodness I didn't know Baylor was as bad as it was on defense. Watching the KSU reply right now and they are just running all over Baylor. As good as this team is on offense they are once again as bad on defense. Expect some big running lanes for the quarterback and Wimberly.

How good are they against one legged qbs?

Yes, Baylor did look very pedestrian against Hubert, Sams and Waters. They may be missing couple of their good defenders.

I hate to break it to you, but here is where Baylor ranks on defense...

Passing Defense Rushing Defense Total Defense Scoring Defense
    20 59 24 18

Now, that rushing number is probably inflated because teams have gotten behind against them and been forced to pass. But they are still 24th in yards allowed and 18th in points allowed. Baylor is pretty good on defense.

Re: Baylor is just plain bad on defense

Ya I would say inflated. K state was without Thompson and their other big play receiver and all they did was line up and run the ball and got huge yardage consistently on the ground. Baylor knew what was coming but could not stop it.

Re: Baylor is just plain bad on defense

Baylor hasn't played anyone yet, I'd hope they could control UL-Monroe, Wofford, Buffalo, etc.

We also suck on offense, really really badly. We manage to get 35 points saturday after Baylor shows mercy and puts in there 3rd string, Rhoads will gloat about how we scored 35 points against a defense that wasn't giving up 35 points a game even though the final score could be 63-35. Yet again, "seeing progress in Messingham" which retains him for a few more years

    God I hate Messingham...Sorry

Their defense is improved from last year. I don't think it is great, but it is improved.

Baylor's defense is technically worse than Tech's, true. But both of them have really good defenses. Tech is 15th in points allowed and 21st in yards allowed. Baylor is 18th in points allowed and 24th in yards allowed.

If our qb lost an ankle and throwing hand, the oline can tough it out. I mean, we only have two MCL issues and a couple other knee problems. That is only one injury per linemen vs two for our qb.

Anyone know about Wimberly if he is okay?

I'm not sure we've seen them play enough competition to make a real call on how good their defense is, but regardless we don't have the offense to take advantage of it either way so it's really a moot point.

I'm pretty sure I read today that Iowa state statistically has the worst defense in the big 12

Probably, but compared to Baylor we have played a much tougher schedule. I bet by the end of the year we are somewhere around 7th, especially if you just count conference games. I'm talking points here.
