Better shot at the upset this weekend: Iowa over OSU or ISU over Baylor?

Listening to the talking heads, they act like Baylor is untouchable. We just beat them by 2 touchdowns last season. They dont have the wide receivers they did last season and are about even in quarterback play from last season. On offense, we will be able to move the ball on the ground and control the clock. I think Wally has a gameplan and we hang around but I dont think we win. Ohio State on the other hand is unbeated in the Urban Meyer era. Their rush defense is top 10 in the country and their offense is on par with last season. I think Iowa is going to have to throw the ball in this game and Weisman is not 100%. I think ISU has a better shot to throw the upset but I think both teams lose Saturday.

I'd say we have better shot given our recent history. I don't think Iowa can match OSU player for player the way Kirk likes to play. If Iowa have to rely on coaching and schemes they are toast.

Off-topic a bit...but has this article been posted about how ISU can upset Baylor?

Column: How can Iowa State upset high-scoring Baylor?

If things go haywire the score will be astronomical in both games.

They don't have the wide receivers, but we don't have the linebackers we had last season.

That said, I gave us absolutely no chance against OkSt in 2011, so who knows?

FWIW, Vegas says Iowa has a better shot by quite a margin.

Re: Better shot at the upset this weekend: Iowa over OSU or ISU over Baylor?

Well, just like K-State provided the "blueprint" to beat Baylor, Northwestern provided the "blueprint" to beat Ohio St. Neither Baylor nor Ohio St are infallible, but neither ISU nor Iowa are likely to beat their respective opponent this coming weekend, especially since both are on the road.

    From Petey's article: wut?

No one outside Ames expects Iowa State to win Saturday's 7 p.m. game, however. It will surprise no one, either, if the Cyclones' record falls to 1-5.

Re: Better shot at the upset this weekend: Iowa over OSU or ISU over Baylor?

Iowa State fans need to stop playing the "we beat them last year" card in regard to most any team. Clones had 4 all big 12 defenders last year and another guy in Watsen who is a pretty decent corner.

Maybe we can play that card with TCU on the basis that their offense is worse and they are missing Fields and they come to Ames this time. Just because ISU whooped tech two years in a row hasn't had any bearing on the last 2 games with them, where their defense controlled the game.

eiu has a better chance. tOSU can be beat. NW showed everyone that.

Baylor can be beat also, but our team is in a delicate spot with some guys dinged up. Baylor could put up 50+ on us.

I will say that I do think the final 6 games will go much better than the first 6.

I have no idea how the Baylor game will go, so I'll just expect a win and see you guys here for the meltdown otherwise.

Re: Better shot at the upset this weekend: Iowa over OSU or ISU over Baylor?

I think we have a better shot simply because Baylor's defense is probably worse than OSU's. If, and that's a big if, our offense can have some consistency and Wally's defense is on we might give ourselves a chance. I think Iowa only has a chance if Ohio State turns the ball over three or more times.

Honestly I think Baylor is better than Ohio State. So I'm going to say Iowa has a better shot. The Vegas lines agree.

Wrong. Petty is a huge step up from Florence. And Seastrunk is playing a much bigger role this year than he did for the first portion of last season.
