2008 NFL Draft Rankings. Blythe #18 Wr .....

I found this site doing some rankings for the NFL draft next year. Blythe is the #18 Wr, meyer is the #21 QB, Alvin Bowen is the #19 OLB. Kind of interesting to look at. I was curious as a green bay fan to see who could maybe be there when they pick. Not sure what the 49'ers were doing by trading their pick late last year and giving the patriots a potential top 5 pick this year.

    Here is the website

There is also several mock drafts you can view all for free

Thinking how many rounds and teams we have, does not a typical draft have about 255 players and then undrafted players number for taxi squad and tryouts for another 145 for a total of 400.

If you have 15 postions to recruit and you are ranked in Top 20, you have a good chance to be drafted the second day. Not saying the Big Three will be drafted, but their names did appear in the FFJungle in the Top 20.

In three years, we might see, Bret Meyer now coming in to sub for the now injured Sage Rosenfels of Houston. Hmmmm. Three McC qbs playing in the NFL?

Edited for seven rounds and 255 draft players.

Blythe might be the only 3 of those drafted, Bowen will probably get a look in someone's camp and don't see Meyer making an opening day NFL roster.

32 (?) picks per round, 7 (?) rounds makes 224 draft picks (<<950). So nowhere close to that many people get a shot. I don't see any way Meyer makes a roster, ever.

There are 7 rounds and 32 team, plus some extra picks thrown in so we are probably looking at about 225-230 total players drafted.

Any idea how many qbs are normally taken? By the look of NFL qb play this year and the rampant injuries, I predict a big infusion of qbs getting tryouts.

I would like to see someone take a flyer on Bowen and see if they can turn him into a safety. I don't think he's big enough to play LB in the pro's, but the man sure can tackle.

Re: 2008 NFL Draft Rankings. Blythe #18 Wr .....

Looked at draft results for the past 5 years:

Usually around 12-13 QBs taken. Low of 10, high of 17.

Usually around 30-35 WRs taken. Pretty consistant.

Usually around 4-5 OLBs taken. Low of 2, high of 8.

If it goes true to form:

Blythe should be a 2nd day pick.

Meyer might get a FA invite.

Bowen should look at other options.

Well, I don't know that it's entirely relevant with how many QBs get drafted. A lot of QBs get brought in with free agent contracts with opportunities to make the practice squad sinec it takes a QB a lot of time (in most instances) to be developed to the point where he can be relied upon.

Here's the breakdown of QBs selected in the last five years:

    2007: 11
    2006: 12
    2005: 14
    2004: 17
    2003: 13

    Meyer will not get drafted.
