With as bad as we played on Saturday...

If Broomfield would have held on to the ball on the last kick-off, we would have had a chance to score and either tie or go for the win with a two-point conversion.

We gave up almost 700 yards on defense and played very poorly on offense yet we were IN the game at the end! This team is young and I'm not going to make excuses but I'm excited to see what this team will do the rest of the season.

You should throw a poll on here for OT or go for 2.
Interested in how it would end up.

The game was pretty close throughout but I never felt like it was close.

the Baylor game is going to be really ugly, as they can both run and pass. Wally tends to game plan to stop on or the other, and I don't see ISU be able to stop the Bears in either phase, even if they plan to take one or the other away.

But your point is valid, ISU could have conceivable tied or won that game. One thing that we tend to look at is the 700 yards, but TT needed almost all of those to win the game. They threw the ball a lot and if ISU had someone in the secondary that would actually catch the ball for a change they might win one of these games when the other team takes a lot of chances. That is the trade off on throwing the ball a lot and getting a lot of yards. So far this year ISU has dropped a bunch of INTs and batted a bunch of balls at the LOS without getting any benefit from it.

I have to think that at least 80% would want to go for 2. I know I would.

^This, although it was a one score game most of the way, I didn't really ever feel that we were going to take it from them and step on their throats. I feel once we win one of these games that comes down to the wire, this young team will have the confidence to stay focused and win these type of games more frequently.

No question on Saturday. If ISU had scored, you go for 2. TTU had outplayed us all day long. You take the shot at two yards on one play instead of OT.

Now, with ISU's luck, we would have had a wide open lane to the end zone and the runner would have just dropped the ball going across the goal line. 42-41 final.

Not to be that guy but aren't 2 point conversions from 3 yards?

Seriously im not positive lol. Either way i say go for it.

Still baffled that we didn't kick the field goal to take a LEAD on the road and get momentum. As soon as that attempt failed i knew we were in trouble.

Rhoads said that they would not have gone for two if the #Cyclones tied the game against Texas Tech.

    That's disheartening.

One thing I think we haven't seen out of the coaching staff this year has been the killer instinct that made us fall in love with Rhoads in the first place. We saw it when he sat on the ball at the end of the half Saturday, and he's saying he'd have kept with it. You play to win on the road. Period.

On Broomfield and the secondary, have we ever had a group that have stone hands like this? Felt like Givens caught everything opposing quarterbacks through in his vacinity.

I don't think going for two would have been the right thing to do there. Our offense, for all it's failings, is really good in the red zone. And we would have had momentum going into OT. I think you kick the extra point and then let your offense work in OT, trusting your defense to hold Tech before Tech held us. Don't put it all on one play in that situation.

yes seeing more playing not to lose attitude this year. even more than that we seem to play tight. that may be coming from lack of confidence; both coaching staff and players. sounds like expectations were too high and ability to execute way too low. sad situation all around and this rut is going to be difficult to get out of. i think one of the biggest weaknesses started to come out regarding rhoads is his attention to detail regarding the management of scheme; execution and strategy. these "ceo" coaches have a rough time in comparision to the "micro-managers".

Yeah, and they would have just scored two possessions in a row, so they would've thought they had something figured out. I can see both sides.
