We've outscored our opponent's average in every single game

I was working on a thread to see whether the schedule really does open up after the Baylor game (I think it does, but I'll post about that later) and something caught my eye. We've outscored our opponent's average points allowed in every single game. Maybe our offense isn't as bad as we think.

UNI averages 15.8 points allowed. We scored 20. 4.2 points above their average.

Iowa averages 16.8 points allowed. We scored 21. 4.2 points above their average.

Tulsa averages 33.3 points allowed. We scored 38. 4.7 points above their average.

Texas averages 27 points allowed. We scored 30. 3.0 points above their average.

Texas Tech averages 17.3 points allowed. We scored 35. 17.7 points above their average.

Great insight. Yesterday hurts, but I really believe Sam's ankle was dramatically worse in the second half. I think this was a significant factor in our sputtering offense. If he is healthy we do have a way better offense than many believe. Sucks that he may not have a chance to be fully healthy again this season.

It doesn't make me feel better that outside of Tech, we barely outscore people's average when their schedule consists of FCS and MAC teams.

It's all snark from here on out

This will be a valid statistic if it holds up after the end of the year.

    Good insight nonetheless

And that football powerhouse Southern Illinois put 24 points up against UNI yesterday (to our 20), and completely shut down David Johnson and the UNI running game...

So you are backing up the assessment that Mess an Co are just above MAC and FCS level? Great.

When you're 1-4, positive stats are hard to come by. I compliment you on your excellent reach.

Re: We've outscored our opponent's average in every single game

Wow people on here really don't want to hear any positives. Its been a tough season but there are positives moving forward. No one is trying to say that this all makes up for the rough start, but we are saying that the future is bright.

I think some of you might need to seek some professional help to get out of your depression. If you would rather sit in self pity, do so on your own, don't drag down other fans that are searching for a reason to be optimistic. Oh how misery loves company, which is why I'm not on here much anymore.
