    Perspective

ISU Football has rarely been a sport that when ISU wasn't winning, the game was close...let alone close enough that ISU was in the game down to the final whistle.

Every game this year, ISU was in the game to the final whistle. I was just saying to my wife BEFORE the onside kick, that if the players and coaches keep going, eventually they are going to figure out how to get that final play to go ISU's way.

Young, young team, lots of injuries on O-line to start the season and clearly the O-line and D-line to a lesser degree were clearly slower than Texas game. Texas physicality and all out effort against them showed up today, imo.

Even with all of that, good onside kick scheme and Broomfield was very close to getting that ball.

Close may not "count" in the Wins column, but typically most teams have to learn how to lose close before they learn how to win close. ISU FB is close.

Even with Tech dominating on offense and defense, ISU found a way to be one score away from OT at the end.

This team is learning what it takes to win. Tech is a very, very good team this year. BU and TT are top of the league from what I've seen so far this year.

This year may not end well in the Wins column, but the hard work and no quit attitude and play is going to lead to those wins at some point.

As TheCaptain said pre-season, this is the most athletic ISU team he's seen in a long time. I've seen more explosive plays and viable WR stable - not one guy, but many.

I'm looking at this year like Missouri's first year in SEC - starting QB injured, lots of O-line injuries and a horrible record to go with it. Anyone watch the MU-Georgia game this year with a healthy QB and O-line?

No matter what, the team finds ways to keep the fans entertained if you enjoy watching football, win or lose. There's big plays, turnovers galore and heart. Lots of heart.

I expected ISU to lose this game, but big. No so fast my friends! In the past, that's what would have happened after a game like Texas. ISU may not win any more games, but from what I've seen, it won't matter. They're going to give every team their best effort for 4 full quarters.

On offense, coaches need to loosen up. See Kingsbury. Offense plays too tight whole first quarter. It's coming from the coaches who are tightening up due to fan/booster pressure. Fans need to loosen up as well. They loosen up, get the second string WR's in earlier when first string isn't getting it done, run the same plays that get positive yards until the D proves they've adjusted and can stop it and it'll show up in the score.

The majority on this board need to relax and enjoy the show. It'll be more entertaining than you expect it to be if you do. Yeah, I'm disappointed with the Win-Loss record.

Did anyone else notice the genuine respect the Tech team gave to ISU in the end? That was a "we respect what you did here" greeting at the end. It all starts with respect.

    Re: Perspective

TL;DR. I assume you just like losing? If we showed more passion as a fan base and lit a fire under Rhoads's *** more often instead of treating him like he walks on water, then we would win. All losing can be explained by a lack of passion and effort.

Please note that I reserve the right to do a 180 on my opinion in the event of a win.

    Re: Perspective

Did you write this post new in 2013? Or copy and paste from 2012? Or better yet 2011? 2010 was a so close year. 2009 building for the future.

Or maybe you're just getting ahead of yourself for next year.

I'm excited about the future of the team too, but I'm tired of hearing about next year.

    Re: Perspective

Tech tried its hardest to give us the game in a pretty little package. ISU failed to open the door when FEDEX stopped by to drop it off.

Stop setting your expectations based on our history in the 80's and early 90's. This team is ****** about being 1-4, and so should you.

Perspective requires taking a step back from how you feel about it.

    Re: Perspective

    My perspective...

    We are bad.
We are damn close to being a pretty decent team.
Our offense is holding us back.
After Rhoads gives a speech or two, our fanbase becomes completely delusional and treats him like a savior despite what he has actually accomplished.

This. We are the champs of the "wait 'til next year' league. Seem to be having problems winning in the league we are actually playing in now.

    Re: Perspective

I do not care about playing in close games. I care about winning games. Who wants to be known as the team that almost won?

There are systems for a reason in this world...economic stability, interest rates, growth. It's not all a conspiracy to keep you in little boxes, alright? It's only the miracle of consumer capitalism that means you're not lying in your own s**t, dying at 43 with rotten teeth.

By the way, we need to stay in the Big XII and start acting like we belong.

    Re: Perspective

I get we had a loss, but darn are some of you guys negative. Would you all be happier if Tech had covered the spread by a ton? I agree with the OP. You don't have to be happy with a loss to be proud of the effort the guys on the team are putting out.
