    Ringtones SMH

There's a guy who works two cubes down from me, that every time his phone rings, it starts with what sounds like an eagle's cry, and then some weird cacophony of some triangles and snare drums. What really gets me is that this guy is one of the most senior level members of our team at this client, and his phone rings ten times a day in the middle of the customer's work area with that crap.

Anyone else heard some really strange mobile phone ringtones?

    Re: Ringtones SMH

The person backed up to my cube discovered ringtones earlier this year. Every day when their spouse calls, it's a loud, obnoxious 25 seconds of "Cotton-Eyed Joe". Other ones they have included the Star Wars theme, Charlie Brown, and something with "shake that booty".

We started a collection one day for the person next to them to put their phone on vibrate, but it didn't happen. People who don't put their phones on vibrate in the workplace make me angry.

Yeah, I'll admit that I remember a time when I was envious of my cousins because they had a cord on their wall phone that was long enough that if you stretched it out well, they could go into the bathroom and close the door on the cord, sit on the edge of the tub and talk in privacy...but yeah, I'm old school on ringtones. I got a smartphone, and actually had to go download a simple/normal ringtone (that I just checked and played my ringtone on my bluetooth speaker).

I work with a guy whose phone used to vibrate so hard it would have made Jenna Jameson blush.

They say country music speaks to the heart. Unfortunately, it has to go through your ears to get there.

A former coworker in a neighboring cube would leave her cell phone when she spent a chunk of the day in the training room. Can't tell you how many times I was serenaded with a bad MIDI version of "When the Saints Go Marching In".

The other problem is that my dad used that same ringtone on his phone. If I was around him and his cell phone rang, I would involuntarily shudder.

    Re: Ringtones SMH

A upper 30's lady I work with had that rap song that basically repeats "You're a Jerk" for her boyfriend.

Rap is the last music I'd expect her to listen to so it was funny at first, but got old pretttty quick. I'm in the crowd that thinks vibrate is the only thing acceptable at work. I usually even have mine on silent.

If you have a ring tone rather it home or at work that is anything other than an actual ring or brief pinging type sound, you are an *** hole.

I have a White Stripes guitar solo; I feel like that is an exception.

    My ringtone:

"There are five real good recruits in the state. We got three of them. One couldn’t get into school, and the other went to (the University of) Iowa...which is about the same thing." - Coach Johnny Orr

At my son's football game (3rd grade) one of the mom's had "It Wasn't Me" as her tone for text messages. Every time someone would send her a text (which was quite often) we'd get to hear little snippets of the song such as "bangin' in the bedroom", "bangin' on the bathroom floor", etc. Lots of kids around. Classy.

I hate it when people use full songs, or rather a 30 second clip, as their text message notice. I find it very unnecessary.
