    OWH Article about CPR

“Any kind of support, administrative, fan base, coaching staff, the boosters and the kids — it's all important because it increases your opportunity for success,” Rhoads said. “It all adds to it, and that's why you're continuing to see growth. And it's there.”

Pretty basic but solid article. Interesting to read that in the OWH, where meanwhile Pelini has the fans in an uproar.

I'm not actually one of the paranoid/little brother syndrome types, but I found the tone of that particular article condescending in a lot of ways.

    Re: OWH Article about CPR

Keep in mind that it is an AP article so the tone is theirs, not that of the OWH.

They probably ran it because they felt Fusker fans needed to read something that said "tradition rich Nebraska".

"Paul Rhoads put Iowa State in the national spotlight for the first time in years with his fiery postgame tirade following last week's 31-30 loss to Texas."

From my recollection, Iowa State has been in the national spotlight quite a bit over the last few years between the success in basketball, and the yearly upsets in football. So, I don't get this opening statement from the article.

+1. The tone I picked up was that the writer is utterly amazed at a coach with a losing career record and currently staring another losing season in the eye isn't on the hot seat.

Ha, yeah, I'm sure people from Eugene to Tuscaloosa know EXACTLY who ISU is not to mention South Bend and Stores. Maybe the guy was talking about dog years.

    Re: OWH Article about CPR

I guess I viewed the OWH as pretty kind to ISU over the years.

I would say between OWH and ESPN 590....ISU gets more coverage over there than I ever would have thought.

Me too. That's why I found the article odd... They usually write their own pieces, which are mostly positive... This AP disaster was apparently cobbled together by the same guy that ranked MBB 10 in the preseason conference standings...

To them, the last time ISU was in the national spotlight was when we beat kNU in 2009. And the only reason we were in the spotlight at that time is because our win came as a result of their 8 "giveaways."
