    Iowa State Preview

I can read your starting lineup thread and know that I probably missed the mark here... Need your input on this article from the guys that follow the team closely. What do I have right? What do I have wrong? Thanks for any input. Iowa State Basketball Preview

Might clarify for Bluford that NEComm was Nebraska.
Might mention how Fred adjusts for his players and he uses non conference to find his conference lineup.
Could mention that Fred won the cancer coaches free throw shooting contest last year, so he knows how to shoot.
ME is B12 pre season first team. He is our glue man.

CFH HMagic bball season next year.
Let my Fred's Four Horsemen ride: Georges, Hogue, Nader, and McKay.

I see nothing about Hoiberg's dreaminess.

“They're very, very hard to guard,” Notre Dame head coach Mike Brey said. “They're really good. And with Niang in the middle kind of wheeling and all those guys spreading you out, they're kind of a nightmare matchup. And they're men. They're really men.”

You mentioned DeAndre Kane's previous averages but don't mention that was at Marshall.

    Re: Iowa State Preview

That honestly seemed pretty on target, especially for someone who doesn't follow the program closely. I don't think ISU fans are any more sure about the starting line-up than you are. Niang and Ejim are a lock for the frontcourt of course, and Kane and Thomas are probably safe bets in the backcourt, but who gets that 5th starter and what Kane's primary position ultimately ends up being seem pretty up in the air. I'd expect Hoiberg to experiment with Long, Morris, and Hogue in the starting line-up and Kane at both PG and on the wing throughout the non-conference schedule.

I'd also say that ISU fans are less optimistic about Gibson increasing his production than you appear to be. I think most are just hoping that he can be a competent defensive presence off the bench if Niang or Ejim get into foul trouble (which was an issue for them last year and will only be more crucial now that they're the focal points of the team).

    Re: Iowa State Preview

Point guards on Hoiberg's first few seasons have been:

    - Garrett
    - White (started with Allen and toyed around with Christopherson. By conference play, RW ran the point)
    - Lucious (would say that Will Clyburn was the 'back up')

I expect Kane to be the PG this year, but the above certainly shows that Hoiberg is comfortable being unconventional at the point.

Great job! I would only mention that Percy has missed a slasher like Royce to dish to him as he isn't great at producing his own offense which is a big reason his numbers dropped. He could benefit from Kane. If he can learn to use his right hand on occasion for a lay up He could actually be a threat on occassion.

    Re: Iowa State Preview

Chris Allen only ran the point in the early season. By conference time, we went with a point forward in Royce White. So to say Allen ran the point is a little incorrect.

This also points to what an earlier poster said, that Hoiberg toys with line-ups and roles until he finds what works, and we usually have something to hang our hat on by conference time. Another example of this is that Niang didn't start until the first game of conference play last year, but he found his home as a starter after making Whithey a non-factor defensively in the Kansas game.

“I’ll put any dollar that if I get this ball again,” Long said, “It’s going in.”
    - Naz Long to Markel Brown before hitting the game tying shot.

Ha- I was on that bandwagon early. We will see. Seems to be some momentum for UNLV. Those UNLV players are some of the best gamblers known to mankind. Go into the casinos and always coming out "lucky"- haha.

I thought it was really good and thorough. The only small disagreement here would be whether we have less talented depth. I think we do, but perhaps it is less proven than last year.

thanks for the feedback. I made some appropriate adjustments. Should be a fun hoops season. Want you all to go undefeated in non-conference- take down some B1G schools in the process (Michigan/Iowa).
