    Do you buy discs anymore?

I just realized I almost don't even buy discs anymore thanks to Amazon streaming. Can stream to any TV in my house now, plus Kindles, and lots of movies are coming out on streaming well before their DVD/BD release date. Monsters University is available already to stream, doesn't come out on disc until 10/29!

I don't, but what sucks is that I bought a CD or two on download and then had my MP3 player and computer die and then they were gone.

Re: Do you buy discs anymore?

CDs are completely dead. DVD is on its way out and I give blu ray 10 more years tops before that is phase out too. That is why Redbox is trying to get into the instant streaming business because they know they are screwed in the future.

Re: Do you buy discs anymore?

I've occasionally bought (or gift-listed) CD's in the last few years just because I have an older car, but I've made it clear to anybody that would get me gifts not to bother with DVDs. Not trying to be a jerk about it, but I started feeling bad about them wasting their money.

Don't buy CD's, don't buy mp3's, don't stream except at work. At home I only play and buy vinyl.

    I don't buy music CD's anymore.

I do buy TV shows on DVD still though. The good part is that I may be the only one, so those things are cheap. I don't stream movies at all.

With the invention of online porn I haven't spent money on DVDs in years.

Oh, you aren't talking about porn?

I buy CD's when I can. I like having something tangible, plus I can't play my ipod in my car so CD's help with that too.

Nope, not really. I stream quite a bit for TV shows. For movies I still prefer to rent the blu-ray. I just don't buy as I don't have the time to re-watch most stuff. Now if audio and video quality for streaming could catch up to blu-ray, that would be the final nail in the coffin for me.

Re: Do you buy discs anymore?

It's gotta be a really good movie for me to buy a hard copy. Sometimes I will buy a 5$ movie that I like just so I can watch it whenever.

The only time I buy CDs is when I want to support the artist, but honestly they don't get much per disc anymore anyways. I will then just rip it onto my computer and keep the hard copy for safety.

Re: Do you buy discs anymore?

I'll be buying the new Pearl Jam CD (Lightning Bolt) when it comes out a week from today, even though I've been streaming it live on iTunes all day today.

There are a small number of bands that I still buy CDs from:
    Pearl Jam
    The Nadas
    Social Distortion

In my car, I listen to CDs or talk radio. At the office or at home, I stream Pandora or iHeartRadio, sometimes stream all my CDs which are on my computer thru iTunes.

Yeah, it does kind of suck you didn't back up your stuff.

But I'm not even talking downloads, talking pure in the cloud available anywhere with internet.
