Pollard's comments - Call in Show

I am still scratching my head about some of his comments. For example:

Every team that loses (on such a call) fans feel like they got "screwed" (my words).

They get it right on the field 99 percent if the time.

They got the right call on the field ... No video evidence to change the call.

In response to a caller "imploring Pollard to speak out" .... He said, "lNot my style."

In short it sounds like Pollard is a Big XII "Yes Man" ... And I lost a lot of respect for him after his comments. He is beginning to sound like Bowls-buy.

Its unfortunate that Pollard feels he has to toe the company line. But you get more respect from people when you are not a yes man and you do the right thing and back your coach. Which should be stated again, again, and again that he indeed did the right thing in that interview and told it like it was.

Meh, it's done. Nothing to be gained nothing to add after CPR's epic rant.

Already made our case and had one reprimand, nothing else to be said.

My daughter whines and complains when she feels a decision I made is unfair to her. It does not earn her more respect.

I actually agree with him. He needs to stay quiet on this. Also, notice he isn't saying anything negative about Rhoads. IMO, he let Rhoads do the talking. And this is the best mouthpiece for ISU, most come off as whiners. Complaining about how you were screwed is an art. If done the wrong way, it back fires. Rhoads did it artfully. 90% of his speech was simply sticking up for his guys.

I think Pollard is right to lay low on this.

His comments are almost sarcastic if you ask me.

Re: Pollard's comments - Call in Show

Let the head coach say the truth, let the AD say the "right" thing. That way ISU does not isolate itself, Pollard retains his standing (if there is such a thing, I have no idea how these politics work) among AD's in the B12, and the players, fanbase, and recruits still see fire and a strong desire to win. Pollard did it right.

Sometimes a simple "no comment" speaks volumes.

Re: Pollard's comments - Call in Show

What are you looking for him to say?

"We're going to keep fighting this and hope that the BigXII reverses the decision so that we can get a W."

"We're going to fight until the BigXII issues an actual apology so that those still grumbling on CycloneFanatic can finally put it to rest."

"Next home game we're giving out baseball bats, gluing some long horns on a dead horse and imploring fans to beat the dead horse."

JP almost always makes the right call, I'll continue to trust his judgement on what is best for ISU athletics.
