Re: Monday Musings: United Cyclone Nation

If Deon Broomfield would have torn his ACL on that Mike Davis cheap shot, would the Big 12 have suspended him?
I've been surprised ever since the game that the Big 12 didn't suspend Deon Broomfield. I assumed that was the most logical response to an obvious Mike Davis cheapshot. I figured the Big 12 would fault Deon for making his knee appear so inviting.

(Might want to cleanup that sentence structure, CW!)

How has Charlie Weis’ program managed to get worse over the last year?
Because he's a terrible ******* coach? I'll assume your question was rhetorical

I think beyond the Rhoads press conference the fanbase has unified in its support again because Thursday saw the return of the never-say-die attitude we've come to expect from Rhoads' Cyclone teams. It was a welcome return after being noticeably and depressingly absent those first two games.

If WVU may not win another game all year, then how overrated was Okie State coming into the season?

Very. By far the biggest disappointment in the league so far, no?

Re: Monday Musings: United Cyclone Nation

I would disagree that the press conference was more or equal in value to a win against Texas from a recruiting standpoint. A win against Texas on ESPN at night would have been massive from a recruiting standpoint. Lively press conferences, no matter how cool or special, will not move the needle like wins over UT. The type of recruits we need to win at a higher level want two things...wins and proof our program can make them succeed. Press conferences really won't matter.

As for the unification of Cyclone Nation? I couldn't agree more. In all my years I've never seen more ISU gear in SE Iowa like I saw this weekend (soccer, flag football, grocery store, etc.). ISU gear was absolutely everywhere. It was almost comical. 3-1 in ISU's favor over hawk gear and I being conservative.

Re: Monday Musings: United Cyclone Nation

Good write-up, Chris. My guess is some non-ISU fans think CPR is a little over the top or some of his reactions are staged. I would also guess if he were their coach, they'd be as proud of him as we are. Now, if there are Cyclone fans that think his emotions are staged? Hard to believe after 5 years with this coach there are some that would actually believe that. Probably people who will complain about everything or always look for the negative.

As for me, I am actually feeling a little upset special coming Saturday!

Re: Monday Musings: United Cyclone Nation

I have heard people talking about Cyclone football since the game. I wasn't before.
It's not all the speech, though. Seeing our guys take down Texas fired people up.

Other than Iowa fans, I don't know how many non-Iowa State fans feel that way. People love Rhoads.

I listened to the jay mohr podcast today from last friday (hour 2). We wouldnt have gotten that kinda pub if we had won the game, granted that one show doesnt move the needle on recruiting but it wasnt just one show, it was all of them including TV.

I also liked when Jay went on how any kid that would chose iowa over ISU is an idiot.
