That's hard to believe. The refs seemed to be straight shooters all game otherwise...

Yeah, I see what you mean now, the spot was about a half a yard short, but it shouldn't have been a first down even with a correct spot. We got stuffed the next play so it didn't really matter though.

Add to that the previous spot cheat (The QB run right before that Richardson was at the 12, could be argued butt down at 13 and they spotted it at the 14.) and you don't get stuffed 3 times at the goal line because you're 1-2 yards closer to EZ to start with. Touchdown Cyclones. Eh, when they take a sure touchdown fumble recovery away, what is a few yards between "Mack Brown and I are good friends"?

I think you could make a case for the four yard line but not a first down. I have more of an issue running into the line in short yardage out of the shotgun.

Re: If you DVR'd the Texas game...

OK, watched the drive that led to the last FG.

play 1: Wimberely runs off the right side, steps out on the 41, spotted behind the 39
Play 2: Screen pass for 10 yards to the 31, spotted behind the 32
play 3: Run up the middle to the 30, spotted at the 30 1/2.
play 4: Sam keeps and runs to the 12 1/2, spotted behind the 14
play 5: Wimberly runs up the middle to the 4, spotted at the 4 1/2.

5 plays in a row for a total of 4 1/2 yards == TOUCHDOWN! The game's over if the spots were right. Play 4, Sam's run, was the most egregious. I'd have to watch some of Texas drives to see if this was consistent on both sides, but if it is not consistently short for both teams then I think a formal investigation is warranted into this reffeing crew.

Re: If you DVR'd the Texas game...

Wimberly spotted 2yds short of progress at 1 minute 44 seconds in first half. It's at 28:30 on the video. Always the same ref. With 5:10 to go in the 4th quarter, Sam gets the first down on a designed QB keeper. Sam gets to the 12 yd line but the same side judge gives him the 14. You don't notice these as much because they are first down plays and the camera cuts to replay. The very next play is the one Chris refers. Wimberly gets inches from the 1st down and the same judge marks it a full yard short.

Oh, it's not consistent...but Observe and Report. I love the play by play breakdown. Post the whole game. It will get copied and pasted all over the Big 12, I assure you. I'll provide the badge when it's time for police action. I'll get it out of a Cracker Jack box, but it'll LOOK realish.

And noting one ref did it - no, they all did it. There are two line judges and they are supposed to make sure bad spots don't happen. Didn't ever see the other line judge "stepping" in do you? And I guess all the other judges are deaf, dumb and blind as well. Fire them all. We'd all be fired for getting caught cheating.

So the lesson is Scent of a Woman: "The lesson here is lie, cheat and steal, but don't you snitch!"

To those wanting to move on, I understand, but the more press this gets the better, even if it is just posting on a message board. This stuff is despicable.

The team needs to move on yesterday, however.

Yes, but our energy should be focused like a laser on the play at the 1...it is the most egregious. This should only be used as supporting information to prove the inability of the referees throughout the game and to debunk the whole "ISU had the whole game to win it" cop-out. I find it very difficult to make the argument in this case that he got the first.

The real question is why hasn't the entire Big 12 less Texas and probably OU banded together and said, the refs go or you go? Grow some testicles or go home.

Yeah this "move on" stuff is a tad annoying to me. The team? Absolutely. I fail to understand why fans can't be irritated for a few days. That's what fans do.

Re: If you DVR'd the Texas game...

I was referring to the podcast from last night - time to move on from..... Thought it was funny we had a special podcast saying to move on and.......a post this morning that is looking at spotting the ball on the last drive from the guy saying its time to move on. That is the definition of a Cyclone fan. My point is you can't move on - games like that have defined us, for every OSU OT thriller we have there is 2 or more emotional punches in the nut sack.

We are the proverbial charlie brown running at the football and Lucy just pulled it out again, refs this time, strange TO's in the past, or the missed kicks.
