Good to see Lalk back on there. I guess I didn't notice if he played against TX or not. It looks like they are finding the right pieces to the puzzle on OL.

I wonder if Lalk being back on there is wishful thinking or if we'll actually see him play.

Hopefully Farniok is back up to full conditioning and can play the entire game. Loth has been decent but Farniok is a beast.

Hmm, next year looks like we only need a Kirby, George, Watson, Broomfield, and Washington. Meyers can replace Scott. Freshman punter coming in to replace Kirby. Rogers shift to be one of the dbs. Seeley take over for George. Offense looks set. Training year. Just questions about the dbs.....injury dependent....looking like vets next year...

I was surprised at how promising the numbers look for next year based off of this depth chart:

    Starters lost: D-5, O-1, S-1
    Backups lost: D-1(0*), O-8(5*), S-1

It would really help to get some immediate help in the defensive secondary from the juco ranks. It will hurt facing the Big 12 spreads next year after losing 3 senior starting D backs. The D will also have to replace the D's "quarterback" with a new leader at the Mike LB.

*inside the parentheses I've removed backups that are in an "or" line with an underclassman on the depth chart.

    Defensive starters lost: Washington(FS), Broomfield(SS), Watson(CB), George(MLB) and Scott(DE)
    Offensive starters lost: Coleman(slot WR)
Special teams starters lost: Van Der Kamp(P)

I think the staff is fairly confident in what they have for young talent in the defensive backfield. Some young guys will get thrown in fresh next year, but they'll be fine, IMO.

Hopefully Seeley is ready to take George's spot at MLB. Those will be big shoes to fill.

Looked like Boesen injured his knee last Thursday night. Have not heard the severity. Anyone hear anything? Probably learn after today's presser.

Oni has been fairly good. Occasionally, a good DT has been able to rip through his hands too easily & has got pressure on Sam. Oni's & Burton's pass-protection needs to continue to improve. Most of the time, both look better run-blocking. All things considered, they have performed well under the circumstances. I expect Lalk to ease back into the position, much like Farniok has.

The subpar defense from the Cyclones gives the Hawks a chance to finally start to get their confidence rolling on offense. Both running the football and through the air.
*Breakout player prediction.... Everyone is going to have their eyes on Allen Lazard because of his hype coming out of H.S., but Derrick Willies steals the show.

I heard Boesen's injury isnt too serious, similiar to what Farniok had: MCL strain. Expect him to be out a few weeks maybe.

I still wonder what Rogers did or didn't do to get bumped to second string CB. I thought he had played ok earlier in the season and I was extremely surprised that he wasn't the first guy in after Watson had to leave the game on Thursday night. He couldn't have done any worse than Tribune, right?

I see Darius White as the backup at two of the three LB positions. He was a Mike in Hs and was a beast on the field. I think he would be the one to take over.

Before the season Rhoads talked much more about Seeley and said he emerged as the #2 MLB. White has potential, but from everything Rhoads has said Seeley has outplayed him.
