How good would this team be with Josh Young?

Undefeated? It would be interesting to see a healthy and motivated Jiri, a eligible Lucca, healthy Wes, Brackins, and Young at point. That would be a scary good lineup, thrown in Rashon and the rest.

This is a huge source of my frustration. How can Drake get a guy like Young at PG and we end up with BP?

The funny thing about Young was that he wasn't that highly recruited because he was considered too short. Funny how those things happen.

Edit, and he went to that really small school.

Re: How good would this team be with Josh Young?

what bothered me about the UNI loss was we lost to a team full of supposedly inferior, non-big12 caliber in-state products. Is it the players or the system that matter most? it's a combination of both.... morgan's teams had great talent but weren't really coached, UNI's "talent" probably didn't have as many stars by their names b/c they were form smalltown Iowa, but they fit in a system well. GRRRRRR!!

I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around the banks will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered.

This is an interesting point. I sometimes wonder if athletic players are even suited for GMACs system. Kind of like trying to tame a wild animal. The athletes want to get out and show what they have and GMACs system may have a bit too much structure to allow that. It is an interesting contrast.

I think people need to realized we are a bottom tier big 12 team this year, and last year the valley as a whole was better than the big 12. Losses to the Valley only look bad because of the confrence name, when really they have some pretty good teams.

I hate that people are passed over because they "don't fit the mold." At the college level (and even somewhat at the pro), a player is a player if they get the job done.

Ill admit i was partially wrong with that statement. After i said that i decided to check up on it instead of just recalling what i saw on ESPN mid to late through season. One RPI i could find had the Valley just below the Big 12, so depending on the RPI you check either case could be supported.

The Big 12 had 3 teams finish in the AP Top 25 last year.... the Valley had zero.

I remember when Sean Haluska almost went to Drake. Probably did not matter either way.

And if you are shooting 1 for 22, why shoot?

Why not play Cory as guard - he can walk the ball up the court, pass, dribble, and even rebound.

I love CJ. He cant be any worse @ PG or SG than who we have starting now. I remember Cory having to bring the ball up once or twice due to Drake press the other night.

No offense, but Id rather not have a guy who is not Big 12 caliber at his position try to play another one. He is a traveling factory.

But I guess you would have to weigh travels against dribbling into a corner and calling timeout or throwing it away.

People dont realize how NOT different this team is from last year when you take away Mike Taylor. (I know he was a lose cannon and I am NOT saying I wish him back). Its just a fact his talent (even with turnovers) took us a lot further than we should have been last year.

Re: How good would this team be with Josh Young?

Young is by far the best guard playing college ball in Iowa currently... actually... I'd say since Blalock left.

I can't wait till we have an experienced team... I think that will help us a lot. I think we have a good future ahead of us... but we gotta support the guys just as much now as we will when they're doing good.
