    Future College Basketball Rankings

    If you're an espn insider you might have already seen that they posted a future power rankings on their NCAAM page. It just so happens to say that Iowa State is ranked 25th in the long term future standings. They had some nice things to say about CFH and what he has done in 3 short years and they seem to think its only going to get better as long as he stays put in Ames.

    In the video clip Jeff Goodman says he doesn't know how Iowa State got in the rankings in the first place.

    With his explanation on why he picked Oregon, I think he is just not sold on the long term success of so many transfers, which is how we are known.

    But, but, wrong way!!!!

    If recruiting keeps improving, I think that we'll move up quite bit on this list. That, and winning in the tourney past the 3rd round (or 2nd for you old-timers like me) will have big impacts.

    Here's who from ESPN did the rankings - obviously a lot of them have a favorable view of iowa state and fred.

    Paul Biancardi, Jay Bilas, Fran Fraschilla, John Gasaway, Jeff Goodman, Seth Greenberg, Andy Katz and Miles Simon.

    We were the only b12 team other than Kansas to make the list - amazing what fred has done in 3 years.

    Nice pub. They list a category for program power (resources/facilities/support/tradition combined), but in college basketball we all know how important just the venue and home atmosphere can be. I wish ESPN had included a separate category specifically for venue and atmosphere so we could see though outside eyes how we compare to these other top 25 programs.

    I would guess Duke, Kentucky, Indiana, Louisville, UNC and Kansas would get 10's in that category. Cuse and Michigan State and around a 9.5 or better. I wonder what Hilton (and its magic) would get? Something like an 8.4 or am I way too high/low?

    Looking back we only lost to UNI, #9 Mizzou and #6 Kansas (if this even counts) over the past two seasons. I don't see our home win percentage or fan support changing much in the future. With the talent we've had, give us a 9.

    Hilton is usually talked up quite a bit by national pundits. I bet it would've been in the top 10 of those on the list.
