Re: Bibbs earn starting job; Farniok to start vs. Tulsa

Let's have our TEs run more than 4 & 5 yard out-patterns no matter who starts or is out there, shall we?

    Good news about Farniok.

The subpar defense from the Cyclones gives the Hawks a chance to finally start to get their confidence rolling on offense. Both running the football and through the air.
*Breakout player prediction.... Everyone is going to have their eyes on Allen Lazard because of his hype coming out of H.S., but Derrick Willies steals the show.

I feel like Ernst and Bibbs are too athletic to be running out routes as well. Get those linebackers chasing them into the secondary.

Are we the only spread team not sending the TE down the seam while we fake the zone read and/or WR bubble screen?

I don't bring my own opinions, just attack others.

I noticed just how successful this is for a lot of teams and can't for the life of me figure out why we don't run anything similar. Lack of trust in the pass blocking?

Tight End Pop! Run Mess! RUN IT!!!

ďUrgency,Ē Rhoads said. ďThatís exactly what I told our staff. Itís exactly what I told our players. Urgency in getting your job done. Thatís in a 100 percent rate of speed at executing your responsibility ó whether itís a fit, whether itís a tackle, whether itís a route, whether itís a cut-off block. Everybody needs a little bit more urgency in coaching and playing.Ē

We do a lot of things that the spread isn't built for or optimize the spread.

It's just another unique wrinkle in the Hot Mess offense.

Really thought Ernst could earn a spot on an NFL roster. I think he still can but he isn't given any opportunities because of the routes he has to run.

    Congrats to Bibbs.

I am going to start using the term "Hot Mess offense" when talking about an offense that has trouble scoring, gets few first downs, and doesn't utilize its players talents very well.

    Congrats to Bibbs.
Maybe they should try the same strategy they're trying with the running backs and give them just one or two plays at a time to make a big impact until one guy earns the job outright. That's working out great so far.

We used to do that a couple of years ago. It worked well so that is why we don't do it anymore.

I am one that prefers 4 WRs rather than a TE. My reasoning is that it is harder for a LB to cover a WR and if that causes the defense to go Nickel to cover the extra WR then that should help the run game. JMO

Personally, I still think that he can. I think that Ernst's injury/issue probably has more to do with this than E.J. hands down beating him out, but that's just me.

I like Brun, but am curious about this.
