We win, and Bigbee is a monster. Iowa has no one like her.

Great win...and any win over Iowa is a good win.

She was really big in the 1st, also. The only thing about her game that worries me, is how often she goes wide on that cut shot. I loved her serving, hope she can get consistent. She was playing close to her hometown, I'm sure it was great for her.

We only hit .077 as a team in the 4th, wow.

Why were we playing the line on the serve so much late? Risk-reward, I guess.

Bigbee was serving? That's new. Looks like Knuth, Bigbee, and Capezio played good.

she has served in previous games, IIRC, but got a couple aces tonight. I know they've talked about wanting her to be a full-rotation player. Tonight was a good time to try that out.

Hurtt didn't seem to do the greatest, I hope that was just a product of Bigz and Capezio getting more chances and not hangover from her performance last week.

I've wondered that myself. I've seen high schools that have these nicer volleyball playing surfaces. Being a year in and year out top 20 program you would think we'd have that.

Boy, we are a young team. Much younger than the football team. And we are ranked.

Here's a description of the floor from the ISU game blog at cyclones.com:

Lets talk about the floor. It is a Taraflex Sport M Plus. It is the same surface Nebraska uses. It is not hardwood, it is like a mat, but it has 96% of the bounce. It is easier for players diving. Apparently this is what has been used for Olympic volleyball since 1976 and is popular in European handball.

We know that the Hilton basketball floor is removable. Seems like this should be one of the next improvements for volleyball.

Knuth had one of her better games, including serving, where she was more consistent with a tough serve. However, Vondrak has so much power, kind of a cross between Jamie Straube and Kelsey Peterson.

From the ISU game blog posts at cyclones.com, it sounds like the program knows Vondrak has a fan club that wants to see her on the floor:
    "
It depends what you mean by best. Matlock has been the most efficient (before tonight). Knuth can put the ball in places that Matlock and Vondrak just can't because she has such long arms. Vondrak falls somewhere in the middle. She has good placement and can be efficient.

The people have demanded her! Vondrak in for Matlock.

Vondrak with a kill down the middle. Go crazy Vondrak fans, go crazy!"

I'm not saying a special floor is necessary - there are top VB programs more accomplished than ours who play on the bball court with taped lines - Stanford and Washington come to mind - just wonder why we don't have a dedicated VB floor, wood or Taraflex. I assume if CJL thought it was important, we would have it.
