Re: Should Bubu appeal President Leath decision to the BOR?

He should have never put himself in the situation. As a student athlete and a representative of the university in the public eye, whether guilty or not, is bad publicity. Add into how he acted throughout his suspension, I have no sympathy for him. A student athlete on scholarship are held to same standards as students on scholarship, broke rules in place within the student code, it was his stupid decision to put himself in that situation. Everyone should just move on.

No bubu can appeal to the board of regents and it could still be over turned.

Re: Should Bubu appeal President Leath decision to the BOR?

He should finish up his degree and move on with life. Use this as a learning experience of not putting yourself in bad situations and be careful of the people you are hanging out with. Whether he raped her or not, he put himself in a position where it was in question - as someone in the spotlight, he should have been smarter than this. He should be lucky it was just basketball that he lost. This is not much different than what "real life" will be for him........if this circumstance would have happened later in life when he was in the middle of his career - if he was my employee, i would have fired him just for the bad publicity (guilty or not). Like i said earlier, he should be grateful he has the opportunity to finish school and get a degree and begin his life.

Handled the whole thing with nothing but class.

Was a model student athlete every other day at ISU. Unless there is something else behind the scenes let him play.

We all make mistakes and deserve a second chance.

Except his "mistake" was a very big error in judgement.

I'm all for second chances and such, but also for consequences. He will still be able to get a degree.

I get that charges were dropped and that is the legal side of things, but President Leath still has the ability to determine who is representing our university.

Re: Should Bubu appeal President Leath decision to the BOR?

I'm going to say leath probably had some reason for reversing the initial decision and bubu is culpable but maybe not with the level of evidence for a criminal trial.

Re: Should Bubu appeal President Leath decision to the BOR?

The letter was spot on. We need to base these decisions on evidence...not opinion. There is no evidence that Bubu did anything wrong. The victim lied and that was confirmed by forensic evidence.

I think Bubu has a case. Why should Bubu just lay down and take this? Is there something we don't know?

I am not aware of any other circumstances under which Leath used to make his decision.

Big deal. You know how many college kids make the "mistake" of having relations with a drunk girl who has a bf every weekend.

    Yes he should appeal.
