No love for Cyclones by USA Today College Basketball Preview

Can't believe this. Cyclones projected by these guys to finish dead last in the Big 12. Guess they don't listen to their own Scott Gleeson!! Sporting News has us finishing 4th as does Lundy's. Never have put much stock in these reviews, but this was even more of a surprise than normal. In Big 10, they have Iowa finishing 8th, behind Wisconsin, Purdue and Northwestern, but ranked 24th nationally, ahead of these three. Proof, I guess, that they don't spend a whole lot of time putting such reports together. Also, that their sports is on the same caliber as their news and financial sections.

It might be only in print. I tried Googling it and kept coming back to a page where you could order the magazine.

College Basketball Preview 2013-14 - Florida

I noticed that during the low periods of my life, when I was suffering from anguish, sorrow or defeat, I could see only one set of footprints, so I said to the Lord,
“You promised me Lord, that if I followed you, you would walk with me always. During the most trying periods of my life there has only been one set of footprints in the sand. Why, when I needed you most, have you not been there for me?”
“Because,” says the Lord, “Sandpeople always ride single-file, to hide their numbers.”

After this football season start I'm not buying into Cyclonefanatic hype ever again.

Sure, we could finish last. Or we might do well. Whatever. No expectations.

This approach certainly kept my blood pressure lower against Iowa. I went into that game with zero expectations, and came out of it without any disappointment.

I'd rather be ranked really low and exceed expectations than high and disappoint.

Spoken like a true ISU fan who has had his heart broken many times.

Hopefully it turns out the same as when we were picked last for bball in 95-96. Of course, this reference shows that I am getting old.

Thanks to those three games (along with many many more), I'm really surprised I don't have a lightning bolt etched into my forehead.

You have to be pretty freakin ignorant to make that pick

If we do finish last, it might match football this year.

We will not finish last. Just like Chiz will never win a national championship (again).
