A note on the throwbacks design--look at Central Michigan's uniforms.

    Hey all,

I saw some confusion on this point in other threads talking about the Jack Trice uniforms. Many people claimed that we couldn't have small numbers in the corner of the jersey, which is why we went with the large white numbers on the front. Of course, I'm a purist and wish we would've tucked a gold number in the corner.

Look at Central Michigan's uniforms that will be worn this weekend. Evidently this isn't an issue like some thought...

Michigan's last year had small numbers in the top corner as well.

I should clarify. Many felt that a new rule change this year prevented us from following that path.

Well that's pretty disappointing. I loved the throwbacks except the big white numbers. Oh well. Maybe they saw how sexy they were and will make some minor tweaks and reuse them/adopt them.

Go with the small numbers and make the switch permanent.

From what I understand, it isn't an NCAA rule. It's a Nike rule. I have no clue if CMU is a Nike school or not, but Iowa State is. My guess is that CMU is not and because of that, they have the liberty to do this, while Iowa State did not.

Adidas symbol on the pants plays into CW logic.

It looks to me like they're an Adidas school.

Why would Nike care where numbers are and how large they are so long as the Nike symbol is still displayed?

I'd really like to know the *official* (with sources of course) for the reason we "couldn't do it".

Once again, the colors and style was so awesome we should make those permanent. They were beyond fantastic.

Totally agree. Unique look that we could have all our own.

If nothing else, keep the colors.

I personally thought the throwbacks were hideous. I'm glad they were a 1-game only uniform.

I don't think there's any denying that we would've won the game if they'd of gone with the smaller number.

Not sure why it matters anymore. The outcry isnt large enough to make them our permanent unis.

You're the same guy who thinks Jake from State Farm sounds hideous. Just know that you're in the tiny minority.
