A lock for top 5 - Kenric Young

So our bad performance didn't hurt us too bad on Saturday.

Did people really think a 6-point loss to an instate rival was going to cause all of our recruits to leave? I understand that the internet fanbase is a bunch of emotional over-reactors, but recruits, players and coaches generally have a lot more perspective than that.

The score wasn't indicative at all.

One "6 pt loss" to an in-state rival is putting it nicely.

Another way to look at it is: "Two losses at home to an FCS team and a bad Big10 team in which the offense looks inept, and both OL and DL are dominated."

But you are right - recruits are looking for more than simply wins. They like out coach, our fans (at least until we looked really pathetic), our state-of-the-art training facility, our academic help, the chance to potentially play early, and the chance to "turn things around".

If the head coach has a commitment from the university that indicates a lengthy tenure, recruits are not all that turned off by a losing record. The chance to play early in their career is looked on favorably in contrast to sitting for three or four years before seeing the field. Kinda like when the NBA gives the high picks to the teams with the lousy records.

Hmm, what I heard you say is that players should enter a draft in CFB? I like it!

Recruits don't really care about individual losses. The teams they are playing on will be completely different than the ones we have their senior year of high school.

No its not. Haven't you read the boards lately. Iowa State is back in the dark ages. We won't ever win another game ever.

This isn't NCAA 2014. You can lose a couple of games and not get passed in recruiting points by Central Michigan in real life. As long as our recruits' visits are no lower than a B+ we'll be fine.

But remember, its not just a couple of games, its a downward trend to oblivion.

Never underestimate the value recruits put in the potential of playing immediately for a coach who has the kind of fire CPR does.
