    Rhoads: Injury updates

In his Big 12 teleconference, Rhoads is hopeful that Farniok will play vs. Tulsa.

Jamison Lalk's injury sounds to be the exact same one that Farniok occurred. Similar timeline.

Says that Sam Richardson needs to be out on the practice field tomorrow. "Too much work to do."

    Re: Rhoads: Injury updates

That is such bs. Let Sam heal or we will have a 60% qb all season. Let rohach play this game. After this game, there is no more byes, Sam needs to heal.

Same should be fine. if he is doing PT on his ankle. Dosnt a sprain usually take about 4 weeks to heal?

This is sounding eerily like the Wesley Johnson situation to me. Hopefully the end result is different.

    Re: Rhoads: Injury updates

Good news on Lalk as well as with Farniok. Hopefully our anchor can be back & Lalk can make it back soon as well. Tuftee was getting pushed around so we may need Lalk back at guard.

As to Richardson, let's do something to get the ball out of his hands quickly in the short game and after that work on more downfield throws to take advantage of our 'strength' on the team, which looks to be Bundrage, Ecby, and the fellas. Get Farniok back & figure some shtuff out, and maybe we can have the semblance of a running game. He's as important as anyone right now, IMO, in getting this offense back on track (well, as far as players go).

Yeah, I'm trying to be a glass if half-full kind of guy.

If the Steelers' center has a knee injury tonight that takes him out of the game (in particular, in the 1st quarter - but, Hell, at any point in the game!), I may not watch any football for at least a year.

It can if healing is uninterrupted. He won't be much for side to side movement and cutting during that time period though.

Sam Richardson needs to be healing, not practicing. How long do you want his damn ankle to hurt? His running ability and throwing will be fixed when he gets healthy...practice isn't the issue.

My only conclusion is that they think Rohach is that bad that he's still worse than a clearly limited Richardson

Bingo. Sam Richardson at MAYBE 50% > Grant Rohach. I'm even saying 50% is a bit high because we took away at least half of his game (running) and it's also screwing up his passing.

    Re: Rhoads: Injury updates

To be fair, Richardson may just be taking half-speed, "mental reps" at practice. No one said he is running the Oklahoma drill.

Which is really scary if he gets injured further to where they have no choice but to pull him.

That is exactly what I hear. Which is a great feeling when we have an offense that makes of habit of getting our QB knocked around and a starter who was dinged up in week one.

This is a good opportunity to get our backup reps.

    Re: Rhoads: Injury updates

Have the coaches made any statement about the moped accident Richardson was in on Monday September 9th? I heard it from two different sources. He was banged up but nothing broken, potentially stitches, but that was from a less than reliable source. He was apparently in good enough (in their eyes) condition to play on saturday.

I don't think that's the case. Our QBs were awful last year and they refused to try Sam. This staff will absolutely refuse to play young guys just because they are young. Also, if we can't beat Tulsa with Rohach, we are ****ed anyway.
