When Iowa comes to the line - the in house music must stop...

We may not win much, but when we don't our stadium production gets called out on national television...

I got a big laugh from that, the music had been playing all game.

the music was blaring when the Iowa offense was approaching the line. the ploy was similar to a minor league baseball game

Pretty sure the NCAA rule is no band or stadium music as visiting team approaches the line of scrimmage. We did it in 2011 and most of this game. I'm honestly surprised we didn't get called out on it earlier.

I remember in past years the Iowa band would play as we were approaching the line, in JTS, so no big deal to me

Yup, I was surprised there was no flag thrown on ISU.
In second half, band drum line was close to east concourse, and was banging loud when we were on offense and at the line but would stop right when Sam would get set and have a few seconds before snap. A few times it was a lot closer than needed. It was pretty dumb in my opinion.

Re: When Iowa comes to the line - the in house music must stop...

Doing this seems to be a growing trend at stadiums and I agree that it needs to be stopped. Over the last two years I have been to about 5 other stadiums where they do similar things. The only other time I have seen the refs say something was at Illinois 2 years ago. They do not have a speaker system like Iowa State does but they do have one of the largest bands I have ever seen and it is truly the pride of their team. They were blasting their horns until after the snap at such a loud level that it rivaled our speaker systems capabilities. Finally the refs threw a flag and gave the opposing team a re-do on the down. Then they told the band that it was done pulling that stunt and if it happened again they would be removed from the stadium. I laughed pretty hard and it worked, but the action did seem to make Illinois look like poor sports. To me it feels that way also for us sometimes as well. I think we as a fan base need to get loud enough each play so they have no need to blast the speakers.....although this years team is making that pretty difficult.

How many Iowa games do you go to per year?

This is standard operating procedure in most stadiums. Boomer Sooner anyone?

Zero, because I don't support that program.
But, when you said "we" in your post I assumed you were talking about Iowa because you're a hawk fan.

In this particular instance, it seemed to me that the music didn't start until they broke the huddle.

In the 'things i couldnt care less about' department...

Though maybe we just found a position that we could demote Messingham to
