    Rodney Coe

Boy I really thought a mediocre JC DE would be our answer at DT. Sarcasm.

He's not good. And he's not 300 lbs. Any Iowa OL helped him up on a play and made Coe look tiny.

    Yep, pretty mind boggling offer.

How about David Irving though? Definitely our best player during the first half. Looked like a man.

Iowa had some success running right at him but he was pretty good at chasing down plays when they tried to run off tackle. His move to DT worked better than I thought it would. Props to him.

See other threads. Rhoads can't recruit. Don't know why we got so excited about this guy. Another excessively hyped recruit by Rhoads.

    Re: Rodney Coe

Speaking of guys not showing up... what is up with Cliff Stokes? Has he even played this year? And please stop with the "Rhoads can't recruit" crap. It's pretty annoying and untrue.

There is a reason his offer list was a joke coming out of juco.

i thought iowa looked bigger all around as a team. I know Yancy is working on a certain type of player but we got manhandled. David Irving looked good but the rest, not so much. Our dbacks looked bad as well. Ugh

Coe was worth a shot. 4 star RB out of HS. He still has a year left....if he contributes at all over this year and next it will have been worth the gamble.

Exactly. The staff knows that this kid is an athletic freak. The staff also knows that he has some work ethic/behavior issues that could impede his ability to take advantage of these talents. That's the risk reward situation. If the staff can get through to him at some point this year or in the offseason, he can still be a solid contributor at ISU at a position it's not exactly easy to find bodies for.

We needed a player not a project. Especially not one with his attitude. Irving made a few plays early but was manhandled several times.

Wow we are really writing a kid off after 2 games, aren't we? It's his second game ever at that position.
