    EJ Bibbs

Remember back when we beat out Oklahoma to land EJ Bibbs out of JUCO? Oklahoma folks. We didn't beat out Kansas to get him, we beat out Oklahoma.

Something tells me that if Bibbs had gone to Oklahoma we'd be seeing him catching 8 balls a game and a TD or two as well. But here at ISU, we've got him listed 3rd on our depth chart.

I know the bashing of Mess is getting old, but are we utilizing all of our talent like we should? Not that we're loaded with talent, but we do have some really good athletes on this team.

Going into the season I had dreams of Bundrage and Daley stretching the field on the outside, while guys like Brun and Bibbs just tore it up across the middle.

I just felt like when we got Bibbs over OU, that he would be a difference maker for us. We don't beat out the likes of OU for talent hardly ever. You'd think we could find a way to utilize these guys when we do land them. That's all.

It's been one game. word is, he doesn't know the offense yet.

I hope that's the case. I was excited to get him, and I was just hoping we'd use him better. I know it's only been one game, but if anyone can screw this up it's Messingham.

Not everyone that plays for Oklahoma is a game-breaker. Assuming he is going to come in and be 1st team all conference is silly.

Well its always something isnt it with us. Our guys aren't smart enough or fast enough or what ever enough. Plus the coaches told us he was good, and they also said its the best offensive line as a whole they've had, and group of RBs are the best and deepest ever etc... So I'm starting to sway my belief that its not actually the players.

Why doesnt the offense get to know him? Maybe develop an offense that everyone can get, including me.

I'm on board with giving up on the kid after his first game. Should we have a party for it?

I don't necessarily disagree with your critiques.

But I'll repeat - it's been one game. Unfortunately not everything happens immediately.

    Re: EJ Bibbs

from the sound of things the three TEs are pretty close in what they bring to the table. Bibbs may be more athletic than Brun and Boesen, but if you don't know the plays as well, you are not going to be the better player at this point in time.

Lets wait a little bit to see how he develops.

Please explain to me where anyone was giving up on the kid? I sure wasn't.

I was saying exactly the opposite. I think Bibbs is WAY too good to not be using him more effectively. This is all on the coaches IMO. It's their job to get someone with Bibbs' talent the ball IMO. Same with Bundrage too.

All summer and fall, all we heard from Rhoads and Mess was how we were going to target Bundrage the most of anyone. He was that kind of talent. And he displayed that talent on one of his catches against UNI. So why didn't we find more ways during that game to get him the ball?

How hard could it be to learn 5 plays? At least as far as I know, that is all the plays in Messinghams playbook. He only calls about 5 different plays anyway.

Its kinda hard to get him involved when he's cutting his routes 1 and 2 yards short of the chains. Like a poster said before, he's also got some learning to do of this offense.
