Is the weather going to affect the game?

It sounds like it could get pretty windy tomorrow. I have no idea about game time, but the forecast I saw had afternoon wind of 11-16 with gusts of 21, which might be 15-20 with gusts of 25 in Cyclone Stadium.

I am a little concerned about the offense if they can't throw down field.

A windy day plays into Iowa's strengths for sure. Hopefully it dies down by game time.

Re: Is the weather going to affect the game?

I wouldn't expect it to be that gusty at gametime. By 5pm we will have already seen peak heating so the wind should be easing up a bit. I wouldn't call it windy, but some breezes will be around. I don't think it'd be enough to change gameplans though.

Re: Is the weather going to affect the game?

There will be a persistent breeze at kickoff, as MNCYWX points out. Since it will be directly out of the south, I could see the winner of the coin toss taking the wind instead of the ball. That is the old school approach. How well KDVK punts into the wind in the off quarters could make a difference in field position.

We played a better WVU team in much windier conditions, and should've won.

I'm pretty sure we only did that like two or three times last game. So essentially we'll just not throw down field 2 or 3 times less than we did vs. UNI and allow Iowa to only defend ten yards from the line of scrimmage all game.

Good thing they're playing in Jack Trice Stadium instead.
