    ***Iowa State vs. St. Mary's***

    Lets get another win!

    4:30 Friday.

I wonder if CJL will go with Vondrak to start the match or have her come off the bench. Knuth had a really off night last night but it seems Natalie is a little sparkplug for this team.

Hopefully we put up a better block today too!

Nice comeback win in the 2nd 25-18. CJL usually adjusts well in matches like these...this is going about like SMC/Nebby match last night.

Christy is going to have gray hair by the time conference season starts.

Hopefully we bounce back tomorrow night...tough task though.

Could be in danger of falling out of the ranking for the first time in years.

I feel like there's little "goodwill" for us yet in the poll (we're still seen as a "newcomer") so I would guarantee we drop out if Nebby beats us.

Re: ***Iowa State vs. St. Mary's***

Is it time to admit that the scheduling might have been a little too aggressive given the key leaders lost from last year's class?

It's one thing to have your weaknesses exposed. It's another to keep getting knocked down, and take blow after blow.

Will the team have anything left for Nebraska?

The first tourney was good, one of three being a very strong opponent. Our own tourney had two elite opponents... too much? It would have been enough to play Nebraska this weekend, which is a big match period, but good and very good opponents preceding them. Too much?

Just remember Steele sharpens Steele, it will be good for them in the long run.

    1. San Diego was certainly not thought of as being "elite" prior to the season - they were unranked, after all.
    2. Illinois didn't even make the NCAA tournament last year - and they're also a natural rival of ours, so I hope we play them every year - fall and spring.
    3. CJL had no way of knowing she would lose Malloy; we obviously miss her.
    4. The Big 12 is weak in VB, very weak, and I think we will always need a tough non-con schedule so that we are pressed to compete.

this. This plus losing Malloy are probably the biggest things. We are always strong on RPI, but we need the preseason to do so. She couldn't have predicted Malloy or *maybe* she would have backed off, knowing how much that would reduce our experience passing/hitting.
