    G7 Satellite set up help

Bought a direct tv dish and tripod kit recently for tailgating, but haven't gotten a chance to do a test run with the receiver to get it all figured out before the game. Curious if anyone knowledgeable in the G7 lot could spare 10 minutes to help us noobs get set up on Saturday?

Re: G7 Satellite set up help

Have done a dishnetwork setup a couple times, easier than you would think, happy to help. Where will you be?

Some things you can do in advance:
Make sure you bring ALL the cables and connectors you will need.
A flat board for the tripod might help, to level it.
Have the dish pre-set to the right altitude so you only have to worry about azimuth.
Have a table to put the TV and receiver on.

Re: G7 Satellite set up help

Is it the smaller SD dish or the elliptical HD dish with tilt?? If it's the later ...... good luck. I would not leave home without doing a test run and getting it set up. Then you'll just have to get the post plumb and do a minor tweak to get it set at the lot.

BTW, if I were you I would just look at the settings on your home dish (if it's the same type) and copy those as a starting point.

Its a larger slimline dish for HD, so it requires some more swiveling and such. Online i can get the elevation setting for it. I would get the tilt setting off my roof top but its probably different in Omaha as opposed to Ames, so I will call direct tv and get that info.

I'll have the OTA atenna as well as a back up, if there are any glitches with set up to get us through for the day.
