Who will we miss most from the contribuitng seniors of 2012/2013?

This is probably similar to trying to figure out who our MVP was, but I wanted to see what everyone thought. I apologize if this has been posted already, if so just ignore. This group of seniors was easily my favorite group in the past decade (could be the understatement of the year).

Chris Babb – Obviously our defensive specialist, but really grew into a nice 3 pt. option. He drove me nuts when he shot 3’s in his Jr. season, but loved to watch him launch it in his senior year. I always felt like he was going to hit a big 3 for us down the stretch. His feed me attitude was awesome, and really got Hilton going. I would have hated it had he been playing for the other team, but since he was for the good guys it worked.

Tyrus McGee – 46.4% not sure I need to say more but I will. He did more than hit big 3’s, it always seemed like he would come up with a big steal, blocked shot, or a hustle play to change the momentum in a game. His hitting jump shots from inside the arc at Baylor this year really put us over the top to get the quality road win we needed. Also loved the mentality when CFH left him out there too long during garbage minutes in the TCU blow out, and he buries two 3’s early in the shot clock. Averaging 3 RPG during conference play isn’t bad for a subbing guard either.

Will Clyburn – Early on it didn’t’ seem like the effort was always there, but he increased his scoring and rebounding during conference play. Lead the team in scoring and second in rebounding. He was the quietest 15 ppg scorer I can remember. Even over Niang, I think he was our biggest source of CFH mismatches during the season. Felt like he was always good for a 6 – 8 point run every game.

Korie Lucious – Struggled early but finished the regular season strong. Nearly 6 APG. He was unbelievable at setting guys up, and just had the “it” factor that some PG’s have for passing. Looking at the Morris highlights, looks like Man-Man may have the same factor. Wish Lucious wouldn’t have struggled with turnovers in post season play, but he must have been hurt.

Anthony Booker – Not really on the same level as the other 4, but Booker made some nice contributions late in the year. He had an unbelievable first half of the Kansas home game last year, and kept us in position for the refs to steal it from us.

That was longer than I intended, but thought those guys deserved one last tribute before the new season begins shortly!

I think we are gonna miss Babb's D, and the ladies are gonna miss him on Welch.

“They're very, very hard to guard,” Notre Dame head coach Mike Brey said. “They're really good. And with Niang in the middle kind of wheeling and all those guys spreading you out, they're kind of a nightmare matchup. And they're men. They're really men.”

I'll miss Booker the most. From a production standpoint, Babb.

I'm going Clyburn. Unless Niang really increases his rebounding I think we could struggle if we go small. IMO Will made that a viable option last year.

All will be missed, but Babb is the biggest loss. Good shooter, great defender

Re: Who will we miss most from the contribuitng seniors of 2012/2013?

We were already going to miss Babb's defense, but with the loss of Bubu we will miss it even more.

We will miss all of them, but we replace/reload with Thomas, Dorsey-Walker, Kane, Bluford, Edozie, Morris.

The problems will not be on offense.

As soon as I read this, my first two thoughts were Babb and Clyburn. I honestly think Babb though. We know that Fred's teams will not have a problem scoring, but Babb brought another level of defensive intensity that is hard to come by.

Re: Who will we miss most from the contribuitng seniors of 2012/2013?

Babb did some serious work every game. I think his D and his ability to hit clutch 3s will be a big miss for the team.
Korie may have had a few games were he had some frustration but look at the points the we scored last year - that was mostly him at the point.

So I have a tie for those two.

    Babb

Lock down defender and always seemed to come through in the clutch.

    Chris Babb without question!

BABB for all the reasons discussed, but also leadership. He was the guy the other looked up to I thought. And in interviews, he sounded like a coach. Maturity.

Re: Who will we miss most from the contribuitng seniors of 2012/2013?

I put Babb because of his lock down defense. I think we'll be able to collectively replace the rest of the team. Kane has a shot to be as good a lock down defender as Babb, IMO.

Re: Who will we miss most from the contribuitng seniors of 2012/2013?

Clyburn. Very tough question, though. Clyburn finished so many important games playing the 4 position...I think ISU will really miss that. Ejim and Niang are great, but it's really gonna hurt when ISU can't move Clyburn to the 4 when they're in foul trouble. Hogue and Gibson aren't exactly reassuring. I think ISU has guards that will straight up ball under pressure so they won't miss Babb as much.

Babb was a good defender, but the defense was already bad WITH Babb last year (although it could easily get worse this year)
