    Exterior House Painting Contractors

I received a couple quotes to have my house painted back in the spring that I thought were a bit high. The house is a 2,300 sq ft story and a half walk out with the main floor being 1700 sq ft and the second story being 600 sq ft. The front of the house is 80% brick/stone so most of the painting needs to be done on the back and sides of the house with the back being 30 feet high from ground level to the soffit. The siding is cement board and the trim is a wood fiber type product.

The quotes I received varied from $4,000 - $5,000 and included all prep work and materials. Materials were quoted at $600 - $1,000. Does anyone else think $3,000 - $4,000 in labor is a bit ridiculous?

That being said, does anyone have recommendations for painters in the Des Moines metro area?

    Re: Exterior House Painting Contractors

Sounds about right. We've had our house painted twice since we bought it. We used local (live just north of Ames) semi-retired guys and paid just slightly under that.

...Except College Pro Painters. They told us it would cost ~$9,000. And then I not-so-poliety told them to get off my property. What a sham.

You could paint it yourself...but if you're like me, that's not going to happen!

    Re: Exterior House Painting Contractors

I had Certa Pro paint my old house. Did a good job, and it has held up well (painted about three years ago).
