Damien Lawry From DB to WR

Can anyone explain this one? I find it a bit odd.

@CycloneFB: Coach Rhoads announced today that redshirt freshman Damein Lawry has moved from DB to WR. #Cyclones

Remember, you're unique. Just like everyone else.

Until further notice, the Big 12 tournament is best. There's an experience here. Not just the teams -- the feel, the vibe, the establishments. Iowa State not only won the pregame -- filling the nearby Power & Light District -- it won the whole damn scene.

Maybe he can catch the ball and run fast. Maybe we are weaker at WR.

Weaker at WR than Defense???? We're in serious trouble then.

Like moving Irving to interior line. Obviously we already had DEs out the gazoo.

He could have asked to move. He may not have thought he would see the field much at CB with the young CBs, and a bunch of our WRs see the field.

    Can he return kickoffs too?

Our weak point on D is up front. The secondary looked much worse than they are due to bad play up front. We have some good depth, IMO, in the secondary.

We have a lot of young corners on the roster and I think Lawry maybe brings a different skillset to WR. Still don't really get it but whatever.

It's all snark from here on out

Probably a number of reasons for this. An abundance of young secondary talent/recruits as well as Lawry probably also liked the move. Staff must see potential as an offensive playmaker as well.

Re: Damien Lawry From DB to WR

He was one of our better recruits from the 2012 class. We have to get playmakers on the field, and I'm assuming he will get more field time as a WR than a DB

Re: Damien Lawry From DB to WR

IIRC, Lawry came to ISU as an "athlete" with speed as his forte. He's a small DB, but as we've seen before, small/fast WRs can have success. Intriguing move.
