Re: BLOG: What losing Bubu means for the 2013-14 Cyclones

It is a bigger loss than many will admit, but the signing of Kane helps, and I think that MM and Naz can fill the void capably, especially by the time the conference season hits. It will probably actually help for next year, as the young guys will get more minutes under their belts.

I think it is a big loss, but the timing could have been worse. At least know Fred and the guards know that someone has to fill the space and they can practice that way. Not ideal, but better than the day before the season starts.

The calming affect of Bubu is bye bye.... sucks for him. As a father of 2 daughters ages 19 & 23, I found myself trying to stand up for him as I think he got the shaft. That crow tasted like cr@p. Still didnt the girl rip her shirt after the episode & admit to it.

Bottom line, women should not be victimized. Men need to stay away from dangerous situations. There are so many difficult/dangerous situations for college kids. I'm thankful for good kids.

It's a big loss but not insurmountable. That's my thought.

Its a loss, but its more a loss in the fact that the scholarship could have been used for Armardi. Thats a bummer.

Feel the same. They are all unproven but Kane, Morris, & Long can all potentially play PG. It hurts, but we have a lot more depth there than we have had in years past.

CW, why are you so certain Bubu would have been the starting PG? Wasn't the reason for bringing in Kane to be a one-year rental at starting PG? Wouldn't Bubu's "calming effect" always be more valuable of the bench? I'm not debating it being a loss, and one with lousy timing to boot, but that part rang false to me.

Or even if it had happened after Amardi had left, you might still have grabbed a transfer or taken a late flyer on some kid. Now it's just a total waste.

Re: BLOG: What losing Bubu means for the 2013-14 Cyclones

It's a loss, but he put himself in a bad spot 16 months ago and has to pay the price........he has one person to blame and he can be found in the mirror.

You never know this might have been the best thing to happen to ISU, MM or Naz might step up and jump into that starting role and become the player that Bubu is not. Maybe they have a couple big games early in the year and is the reason for a win over Michigan - if Bubu was in the lineup maybe ISU loses the game (we will never know).

As a fan i will take what we have and hope they are good enough for a run at a big 12 Title and a tourney run. Having the dark cloud of Bubu gone might be good for the fan base to come together, because there was a rift in the fan base over his presence.

Just from talking to people. Multiple people too. Not just one source on this one.

I've heard over and over again that over the summer, Bubu was running in circles around the rest of the guys competing for that job.

As I've said a handful of times on this site, I don't take much from CCL play. BUT, what I do take away is what guys are doing outside of the arc. Bubu shot (I believe) something like 50 percent from downtown this summer. Would he do that in the Big 12? Absolutely not. But his offensive game has improved as he kind of rededicated himself to the game after everything that went down last year.

Re: BLOG: What losing Bubu means for the 2013-14 Cyclones

I really don't think it's as big as a loss as many are making it out to be. I think it's a loss from the standpoint that he knows the offense and defense well and can teach it as well probably, but from a talent/overall play perspective I don't think it's as major as if we lost say ...Monte Morris.

Still sucks, but I think many are overreacting here. Now yes, there is some word that Bubu really upped his game, so we'll sadly never know if he truly just elevated to another level or not. I guess that right there really sucks.
