    Question Personnel in the redzone

Anyone besides me notice that Jarvis West always comes into the game when we are in red zone? He hardly played WR on Saturday but once we hit the redzone he came right in. Anyone know what the philosopy is here with putting our shortest guy on the team out there?

Courtney Messingham trying to **** up.

Really, its the only conclusion I can draw any more. He has to try to be this bad.

    Messingham probably forgot about him.

The one constant through all the years, Ray, has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It has been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt and erased again. But baseball has marked the time. This field, this game: it's a part of our past, Ray. It reminds of us of all that once was good and it could be again. Oh... people will come Ray. People will most definitely come.

Still a big fan of Woody, even after the key WVU fumble. And I don't mind Woody coming in, but Woody from first and goal from the 6? Really? I can see the 2 or 3.

And do we not have a play to actually fake to Woody on a naked bootleg, or throw to him after a fake?

It is nearly mind-numbing that it seems everytime he comes in, we only run 1 or 2 different plays. Where is the creativity?

Second and goal from the 3. 1 on 1 coverage with your best WR against a guy he had physically dominated.

    Off tackle sweep to Woody........huh?

Maybe the idea is to give the threat of a screen pass. That's the only thing I can think of that makes any sense whatsoever.

Worst play call of the entire game right there. 50,000 people simultaneously started scratching their heads. It looked like a Head And Shoulders commercial.

The sweep to Woody seemed like a trick play to catch UNI off guard, but why do you have to trick an FCS program? Line up and run your bread-and-butter play. If they stop it. Run your second bread-and-butter play.

    Re: Personnel in the redzone

This was always the core of the bad play calling. We need work TE and RB underneath, that always seems to open up things. I get that we were down in the second but we abandon the run too much, need to keep them honest or they will blitz and stunt every play. That is why little down the stretch worked....

Watched the game yesterday and this is what stood out to me. We were driving, Woody pounds it up the middle for 4-5. Hindsight is 20/20, but why not do that again? The last play that should have been called there was a sweep to our (basically) fullback when they have the line stacked. Pound it up the middle or let Sammy Football hit that fade.

    Re: Personnel in the redzone

CM just needs to be demoted back down to WR coach after the season. He is good at coaching a position, but terrible at calling plays. Also I am curious why we never take shots down the field? Everything is underneath so the linebackers can play closer to the line and not only stop our short passes but also our runs.

Kind of reminds me of that old saying... Jack of all trades, master of none. It seems like that's what we're striving for sometimes.
