    Kicker

Netten looked good on his two field goal attempts. Does anyone know what kind of leg he has? Arceo is hit and miss on kick offs but I assume he must have a stronger leg than Netten.

Has anyone seen someone miss a kick as badly as Arceo at the end of the first half? Everyone in our section was wondering why they didn't go for it as the offense was moving the ball...instead we settling for a 55 yard field goal which was short and missed by 20 yards to the left. How bad did Arceo miss the first field goal? Couldn't tell from our angle.

I assume field goals are Netten's job. For now.

    Re: Kicker

With one year of watching Arceo and watching Netten in about 6 high school games and one practice I was able to watch, here's my honest opinion.

Arceo has more power, Netten has better accuracy. A lot better accuracy.

Anything 45 yards and under should be Netten. Anything more, bring in Carlos Marmol.

The one constant through all the years, Ray, has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It has been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt and erased again. But baseball has marked the time. This field, this game: it's a part of our past, Ray. It reminds of us of all that once was good and it could be again. Oh... people will come Ray. People will most definitely come.

    Re: Kicker

Arceo's second miss was so comically bad. I can't recall ever seeing a kicker at any level miss so horribly. It almost made it all the way to the pylon.

Arceo. I don't think we scored any more TD's after Arceo was pulled.

    Re: Kicker

Kicking should be icing on the cake, not the cake itself.

Arceo should never have had to kick from that far out. Its just asinine. I cant be mad about our kicking game in the grand scheme.

    Re: Kicker

I really don't think we should ever attempt a kick beyond 45 yards unless its at the end of the game or half and we have no further time or options to advance the ball farther down field.

I was livid when we trotted Arceo out for a 55 yarder.

In 1984, I was hospitalized for approaching perfection.

    Re: Kicker

I never blame the kicker when they miss from 45yds or greater. That is just setting them up for failure. When the first drive ended in a 47yd attempt that was missed it just set the tone for the rest of the game and possibly the entire year. We've seen that story over and over and over again.

Making a decision about who is the field goal kicker in the second half based on two tries for over fifty yards in the first half is crazy. Just like the whole night was.

Netten's 38 yarder BARELY went through. If it hadn't hooked in at the last second this might be a different thread.

    Re: Kicker

I just don't see how anyone can defend Arceo. I mean, his first kick was right in the middle of the field, all he had to do was boot it straight - no angles. His second kick was almost as ugly Jon Miller.

How bad did Arceo's first kick miss by? I couldn't see at our angle. It was as straightforward of a kick as you can get.
