What are you hoping to see done differently in two weeks?

Besides getting a W instead of a loss, obviously. And we aren't going to magically get good in the trenches over two weeks. So among things that can actually happen what do you want to see done differently against Iowa

    On Defense:
    • WRAP UP! We had so many missed tackles that I lost count.
    • Jeremiah George needs to remember how to play football
    • Start Luke Knott.
    • None of our starters can be stupid and get themselves suspended. Even with as poorly as we played I think Watson being in the game might have meant a win instead of a loss

    On Offense
    • Commit to using James White as RB. Use Wimberly in the slot and bring in Shontrelle to change it up sometimes. But White needs to be given the chance to get into a rhythm. We can't just be changing it up all the time. Let your senior captain play.
    • Air it out. We have some decent receivers and a QB who can throw. Use them!
    • Adjustments! Adjustments! Adjustments! If we are getting beat somewhere then change what needs to be changed
    • Don't be afraid to use something what works more than once! If we are getting yardage off of a play then keep using it. Don't switch to something ineffective!

What does everybody else want to see done differently against Iowa?

I think you nailed it. Those are all correctable things that can change in two weeks.

Very good points. For me, just call plays that put you in a position to win.

Re: What are you hoping to see done differently in two weeks?

Teach our 5'-6" corners (can't undo that now....that is what this coaching staff has assembled) that you play 3rd and 8 in the second quarter differently than you play 3rd and 8 in the fourth quarter during a critical drive. I can almost forgive the 7 yard backpedaling/stumbling cushion in the first half if that is what they are coached to do because of the glaring talent difficiency. It is called "football IQ". For the life of me, I do not understand why we don't play physical with recievers and lt the Referees sort out what the passing game will be.....our defensive secondary coaching must be the laughing stock of the United States. Even as a kid, didn't we all COVER THE FREAKING RECIEVER in nerf footballin the backyard. Apparently, we believe in letting them run their routes unobstructed and then hopefully tackling them after they catch it.
Our coaches SHOULD be coaching TO GET two pass interferences a game....in the bigger scheme that means our guys are knocking guys off routes and disrupting the pitch-and-catch timing we have to witness. Watch Alabama or OU for good coaching.

Dirty - our defense is designed to give up short passes between the 20s and then stiffen up in the red zone when there isn't as much ground to cover. We give up first downs to prevent touchdowns.

Re: What are you hoping to see done differently in two weeks?

Start Wimberly at tailback and give him at least 15-20 carries, the guy is a threat to take it to the house every time. Probably the best offensive weapon ISU has.

Also we need our starting center back, some people do not realize how important a center is. Normally he calls out the blocking schemes and such, when he went down you could definitely see the impact, in a bad way.

I want to see a decent pass rush, and some different play calling on offense (the latter won't happen, I know).

Better line play from each side. Be quicker, more physical, and use better technique.

Technique can be improved with two weeks of practices but our lines aren't going to suddenly get stronger and faster week to week. The time for that to happen was the offseason.

I'm not suggesting that they need to get stronger and faster, I'm suggesting that they didn't show that. First game jitters, lack of effort? For some reason they didn't show how strong and fast they actually are.

Same with technique. I'm sure a lot of them can and have played with better technique, they just caught up in the game and forgot how too.

Better attitude, play with some toughness and a bit of a mean streak. Imo, we looked very soft and that was a big disappointment.
